Gay and the GSWs?

Post#1 » by radtech » Tue Dec 1, 2009 4:53 am

Rudy Gay for Andris Biedrins and an unprotected lottery pick this year. If a trade is completed after the season is over, the draft pick could land anywhere.

Acquired player: Center Andris Biedrins
Memphis lotto pick: Small Forward Evin Ebanks
Memphis second lotto pick: Power Forward Arnett Moultrie

The entire frontline is young and quick. Also Randolph is still there to provide the inside scoring. A young center like Thabeet will take years to develop so he won't be rushed and you still have Gasol, Arthur and Carroll to round out the frontline. Youth is everywhere plus depth.

Why for GSWs, they have been looking for another scorer to compliment Monta Ellis. The Warriors have been getting younger and younger every year and the results have been more losing. They don't need another lotto pick to sit and watch from Don Nelson's bench, literally wasting his rookie year.

#1 - There's a trade thread stickied at the top of this forum.

#2 - The Grizz already have 3 7 footers under contract for next season, plus ZBo for one more year. We're deep in height, not so much at the SF position.

No thanks.

Value-wise, this is actually one of the best Gay proposals I have seen on this board.

might be good but he is giving us what we dont need. we needed 7footers when Pau gasol was here. now we need a PG. and monta ellis is not an option for me. if he said he cant play aside curry picture what would happen if you mix the oj.ellis combo. Anyway, a good player would always be welcome.

obviously the Warriors give this no consideration. Rudy G is not a center,is not signed, is not needed by GSW who'll have both Azubuike + Maggette, plus some others able to play some SF...and the pick is valued as GSW gets to pick what they DO want.

The Warriors would not trade Biedrins for Gay...without the pick. I'd reject Gay + Thabeet for Biedrins, but the front office might do that one. The idea that expiring Rudy even gets the GSW pick and some junk filler,is a stretch.

Old Rem, I agree that keeping Biedrins is the thing to do. I have to say that I've been very impressed with your team lately. Going with a small bench due to various injuries has really shown how the players are willing to step up. Makes me wonder if Don Nelson should stay away for good :D .

Scoring points isn't a problem with the Warriors, Anthony Randolph is underused at small forward, and having Biedrins come back as a stay at home, reliable center is exactly what they should hang onto.

How about sending Biedrins to Charlotte for Raymond Felton?

GSW fans here.
Why would we trade away the most legit center of our team? Moore is basically retired. And Hunter isn't guaranteed and he's just a D league. Turiuf, AR, George, Vlad, BW are all Fowards. Gay is another forwards that would furthermore take minutes away from the likes of AR and BW when they are all healthy. It's just not balanced. You guys have plenty of centers and we have plenty of fowards, why would we trade away our center for another forward, vice versa.

The more realistic I could think of is Monta for Conley+ a second round pick + fillers to match salary. Monta stated he couldn't play with Curry because Curry is small. But OJ is the size of Baron Davis. I can see that Memphis will instantly win more games with Monta. Also, he's the mississippi bullet. GSW might take a step back but we need a guard that pass, not chuck.

Leave it to our Warrior fans to step up with a trade idea that is more absurd than what we hear from outsiders who assume that GSW is THE stupid roadkill franchise and can be plundered. As long as Nelson runs the show, a half court patterned game and a don't shoot PG are not things that happen.
Biedrins and Ellis are core keepers. There is no sense at all in trading either for a player who is at best,a placeholder who is not the answer,or who's about to just walk away for a contract we won't want to match. Biedrins is rebounding,defense,FG%...all stuff GSW desperately needs MORE of. Not less of. Ellis has stepped up as the team leader. Has been our defensive ace, has carried a team damaged by injuries and irrational coaching. He's plaing at a D Wade level....and the idea is to trade for a PG no better than our new rookie....and a friggin' round 2?

LOL at the guy who says Mayo and Ellis could not play in the same backcourt.
Players who know how to play at that level can make adjustments rather easily. With both Mayo and Ellis having some PG ability, they'd be a great duo for a long time. It just ain't gonna happen. Mayo won't get traded and neither will Ellis.
