Shaw needs to shut-it

Post#1 » by Mamba Venom » Thu Dec 10, 2009 1:11 am

I love Shaw. But I am so tired of guys like Sasha and Luke getting huge contracts.

Farmar wasnt worth the 2 mil he makes until he started trying again. Its great that Farmar is improving but it is a contract year. Everyone knew that Farmar was going to step up this year.

I hope Shaw and all the other Laker coaches don't get in a habit of over-praising guys that are in contract years. Luke & Sasha make as much as LO & Artest because Laker management was looking at the player they might become and not the player they are. We need that cycle to end. No more over praising guys until they do it consistently. All it does is give their agents ammunition so they can over charge our team, the Lakers.

I may get flamed for this but Shaw please keep your mouth Shawt! You can praise Farmar all you want in the locker room.

Man what the hell are you talking about?

He was giving a coaching assessment on what Jordan has done to improve and what he'd like to see him improve on. You sound ridiculous saying he should shut up, he's on the coaching staff and has every right to critique any player on the team.

Shaw speaking doesn't have a damn thing to do with Jordan or anybody else in a contract year. Remember young buck........restricted free agents have no leverage unless they're a franchise changing player. We and every GM in the league knows he isn't.

I was thinking along these ^ lines moreso than at the end of the year for a contract. I'd praise Jordon too it were to get us someone who can help us more during the playoffs.

So .... Shaw did what? He said "out-loud" that a player is doing better ? What will that do? Make Mitch pay him a big deal?

I think the Lakers overpaying train left long ago when Mitch pimp slapped Ariza's agent.

We're looking to ship him out for as much as possible. Hard to do that unless you give him minutes and praise, so Shaw's really working for Mitch and also it doesn't hurt for Jordan to be confident to boost his actual play. Nobody wants to sign Farmar for big money... I think Mitch learned his lesson finally with Sasha.

The coaching staff sure gave Crit tons of Props before the Gasol deal BUT I am against coaches not giving out the props in the locker room for players looking to make more money.

If you remember Shaw was the machines biggest fan then he got that crazy contract.

I am 100% against LO + Artest making LESS money (100k less) than Sasha & Luke
I would like to keep Farmar for a value price, we need a pg of the future and Farmar can easily put the Lakers in a position to overpay.

Not sure where you get your numbers. Hopefully not the irreputable Poopsworld.

This year
Artest + Odom = 13.35 mil
Sasha + Luke = 9.84

Full contract guarantee
Artest + Odom = 60.95 mil
Sasha + Luke = 32.36 mil

What's with the LESS money statement?

Heard it on ESPN radio so I thought it was true

But Sasha and Luke at 10 mil, LO + Artest for 13 mil.

Sasha + Luke + Ammo make more than LO + Artest + Powell + MBenga.

AT LEAST SASHA IS AN EXPIRING NEXT YEAR!!!

srsly, who blames the asst. coach who praises his players for creating capkilling contracts.

id have thought those players playing in contract years had more to do with it. or the GM that gave them the contracts instead

Luke and Sasha got amazing contracts because Mitch thought he needed that potential to win the ship. Now that the lakers won it, it's easier to tell players "oh, you think you should be paid more? we already won it without you playing well, so , see you later dude" Things change once you win the ring.

haha... I think there are about 950 other professional sports franchises that say the same thing about a few players eating up salary.

I really think anything Shaw said had little impact on these contracts. The last I checked, all those scrubs we have in 2009, that WE inked to those stupid deals, earned them in a weird way. Overpaid? Yeah, everyone in the NBA is. But they played particularly well in their contract years and the upside looked worth it at the time. And most importantly, KOBE liked them.

What's done is done, we're still the best team in the league. We're not exempt from making mistakes in the offseason buddy. Sorry.

Am I sensing a Slava Medvedenko citing coming around this thread?
