Who would you want for a new coach & or GM?

Post#1 » by rhino2004 » Thu Dec 10, 2009 3:38 pm

So we all agree Obie HAS TO GO. The argument is still out about Bird.

I saw either bring back Mike Brown as a head coach(still ticked Pacers let him go) or offer Larry Bird the coaching job along with being GM. Larry was a HELL of a coach when he was coaching, of course he had talent then to.

Or, go with an inexperienced Mark Jackson who would make a great coach.

What do you guys think

I want Houston's setup. They have a ridiculously sweet overachieving team all the time, even when their big names guys are out. Morey is a genius, and Adelman is amazing.

I think our front office guys are on track. I'd like to replace JOB with Mark Jackson - who i'm pretty sure will be able to realize TJ sucks

I like Larry staying, he has done a fairly decent job as GM

lol, hell i bet Mark Jackson at his old age could be a better PG than Ford is!

I like Sam Mitchell, I'm unsure of bringing in a non experienced coach. Especially since he will more than likely have a young team in 2011.

Also keep Bird until 2011 at least. I want to see his "plan" followed through.

Bird was unexperienced when he came in.

Sam Mitchell would be a good idea, he had decent luck in Toronto and he is also a former Pacer.

I still like the idea of getting a high caliber coach. We have had Larry Bird, Larry Brown and Rick Carlisle. Isiah and JOB suck.

The ol' boy HookShotHibbert brought up bringing in Patrick Ewing to coach the other day. I don't think it would be a completely bad idea. I think it would be ideal for Roy's growth, but as soon we had 1 bad game, the fans still holding on to the hatred we used to have for him in his NYC days, would turn on him immediately.

lol! Ive always thought we needed a retired dominant center to work with Hibbert. Ewing would be good! Ive heard he has become a good assistant coach and he knows how to win.

I would love to have Olajuwon come in and work with Roy on his post moves. He worked with Kobe and it added an entirely new element to his already dominant all-around game.

We don't hate Ewing. By now Pacer fans just have respect for him, and if he becomes our coach we'll love him, like Rodman in Chicago.

Mark Warkentein from Denver would be the easy pick as GM. Native Hoosier and reigning Executive of Year. Denver has gotten better (44 wins, 45 wins, 50 wins and 54 wins) since he took over. Not even close if Larry steps aside...

I like Bird for GM.

I'd take Mark Jackson, Ewing, Laimbeer, Carlisle or Adelman>O'brien

I think Mike Brown sucks. =/

I think Carlisle sucks. Leaving your star players in the game in a blowout win. Recipe for disaster.

I second the notion for Byron Scott. Also I could see going after one of the really good defensive assistant coaches in the league and see if we can find a diamond in the rough.

I meant Hire one of the best defensive Assistants in the league for our HEAD coach. I would consider Harter, but isnt he like 90? Plus he seems like kinda of a push-over.
