He has nothing left to lose, but he has something to gain from this by lying. He's going to make money off of this book remember.
Regardless, I strongly believe that there will be grains of truth in that book no matter what. I'm sure he'll probably exaggerate on some stories, probably even make some of them up, but there is no way that he could invent all of those things.
Just go through the excerpts. A LOT of those stories are so damn mundane and trivial that it would be silly to just assume this is all a figment of his imagination. There is definitely going to be truth in it and the NBA knows it.

And Stern and the NBA crew are crapping their pants, I'm sure...because a grain of truth can snowball into a whole lot of truth fairly easily (sorry to use such a cheesy metaphor!)
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Someone fill me in on this because I can't really remember. Are the guys who handled the Donaghy case 'private investigators' hired by David Stern? It didn't seem like the public had much access to the case.

Why should Phx get better calls if they're the better team? That's what favoritism is.

No. The point is that Phoenix was outplaying the Lakers because they were the better team and the refs made up for that talent gap by handing the Lakers plenty of favorable calls, evening the playing field.
