Re: Gomes
How about Hakim Warrick for Ryan Gomes? Would that be enough?
Kahn's lackey has been scouting the Bucks for the last two games. We have been trying to figure out what he would be interested in on the Bucks roster and what the Wolves had to offer that would make sense for both teams. We sort of figured that the Wolves would like expirings, of which Warrick is one. What would the Wolves be interested in on the Bucks roster?

Trade S. Jackson soon. NJ seems like a nice place for him.

Re: Gomes
How do you know he is scouting the bucks?
We have regional scouts that monitor many teams.

Not enough. Gomes is much better than Warrick and fits our needs better (outside shooting).

Hakim Warrick is an expiring, and MIN is not playing for this season. If I were them, I'd be looking for a low-producing expiring, and a future pick or prospect.
Which leads to my next point. The Bucks good start may lead them to wish to add low-cost talent, which Gomes certainly applies for. Gomes started the season slowly, like he always does, but he's averaging 21 PPG, 5 RPG, and about a FG 59% in his last 7 games. The Bucks carry many expirings, and the Wolves don't wish to add 2010 salary, so I think the basis of a deal begins there. My guess is that the Wolves would be scouting your prospects, or trying to get a feel for where they expect your draft pick to land.
Gomes production and sweet contract probably warrant a pick in the teens now, so MIL makes more sense than BOS.

It is highly unlikely that the Bucks would include a draft pick in any trade this season. It would be expirings or nothing.

Re: Gomes
I wouldn't read too much into a Kahn-assistant scouting a team. Remember the database he's building.

In his last six games, Gomes is averaging over 20 PPG, 5 RPG, 2 APG, 1+ 3P, at FG 59.3%
If its expirings or nothing, I'm guessing the winner is "nothing."

He was at two consecuative Bucks games. In Boston on Tuesday and in Milwaukee on Wednesday when the Bucks played the Raptors.

Re: Gomes
Why would we trade Gomes for just expirings? Doesn't he have a team option after this season so in essence if we just wanted him off the books we could do it after the season while having his production during the season? The only reason to trade him for expiring is if a carrot was attached, i.e. draft pick or young player.

It's not a team option, it's just that his contract isn't fully guaranteed. If he was cut at the end of the season, it would still cost us 1 million against the cap. There would also be some junk salary in future years.

Re: Gomes
If he's cut before June 30th, 2010, here is what we'd owe him and what goes against our cap...
2010 - $1mil
2011 - $1mil
2012 - $750k
2010 - $1mil
2011 - $1mil
2012 - $750k

Re: Gomes
Gomes is a great sf/pf bench player...6-7th man..and is worth much more than expirings
I think you will keep him, he has a good deal
And if traded... you should get at least mid first round pick or a young prospect
With emergence of Sheldon Williams as Boston pf I would trade Big Baby for Gomes if you ask me

Re: Gomes
IMO. No way Gomes will be traded. He's always played a role worth the contract he had/has.
Kid is playing great ball. If he can always keep his effort the way its been recently then wow.
Basketball Reference Per 36: ppg/rpg/apg/spg
Gomes: 15.0, 6.6, 1.9, 1.2
Deng: 16.5, 7.7, 1.6, 1.2
Gay: 18.4, 5.9, 1.8, 1.6
Do we really wanna pay other guys 10m a season when Gomes can do the same thing at the 3 for 5m a season. Gomes is also a "smarter" ball player and probably fits better in Rambis's offense.
I was in the trade Gomes for expiring or a pick camp. I'm now in the you'd need to blow me out of the water camp. His production to contract value is absurd when compared to his overpaid "peers" and it always has been. Sure he'll never be an all-star and I think he's a liability at the 4, but at the 3 I'm fine with him.
