Jonny Fly

Post#1 » by LOBO 7 » Fri Dec 11, 2009 1:38 am

So, I always assumed Jennings would come back to Earth, and I'm still glad we drafted Jonny.

Last 10 games:

Jonny Flynn
PPG 14.5
APG 5.7
RPG 1.8
SPG 1.0
FG% 41.5
3P% 40.6
FGM-FGA 51-123
MPG 31.4

Brandon Jennings
PPG 16.8
APG 5.9
RPG 3.2
SPG 1.2
FG% 34.8
3P% 38.0
FGM-FGA 63-181
MPG 36.0

I admit I was scared by Jennings for a bit there, and I still think he will be a very solid player, but I am sooo happy we got ourselves Jonny Flynn. No regrets here. It will be interesting to watch these 2 grow for the next, oh, 12 years. I am originally from Wisconsin (bring it on  ) and follow the Bucks a bit, so I'm excited to watch both of them. But, I still think we made the right pick. It might be fun to bump this thread every once in a while, I'll eat my words if I have to, but I'm pretty confident I wont have to.....

Yep, Brad Jennings has fallen back to earth big time.

It's what they call him on the Bucks board.

I was always happy with Flynn but I still think Jennigs is the bigger beast. We will see what happens. I was never angry or upset over passing on him though, he wasn't even a real consideration at the time.

I didn't want Jennings at the time. He talked to much smack for being so lousy overseas. He also almost didn't show up for the draft because he was scared he would go too late. The attitude still bugs me.

I liked the Flynn pick after Evans and Harden were off the board.

Imagine the Kings take Rubio and we have Evans and Jennings, and sign Lebron next year.

But I thought all we needed was Love? Hmm...? Hmm...? What have you say now?

I'm still happy with our pick. I've never liked Jennings attitude, and I think he'll end up being one of those guys that fills a stat sheet but doesn't help his team win. I see Flynn as a player that will do anything he can to help our team win. Not to mention that he's one of the few people that don't mind the "cold" Minnesota winters. Do this draft again and I'd use one of our picks on him every time.

Jennings is one of the best players in the draft and a steal at #10. With that said, with everything we knew at that time he shouldn't have been considered a legitimate option. For starters we wanted Rubio, and picking a guy who went out of his way to rip on Rubio would be idiotic. Every sports analyst would have a legitimate reason to rip on us and I wouldn't blame Rubio is he gave us the middle finger for a move like that. If I remember correctly, I think Milwaukee wanted Lawson more. I can't find the link because every site on google is about Minnesota trading Lawson to Denver.

But why do we have to compare Flynn to Jennings?

We don't have to compare them, but they will inevitably be compared by many for years to come. There has been a lot of talk about teams regretting passing on Jennings, and some of those teams should regret it. I am just saying that I, for one, do not regret it. Jennings may always average more points than Flynn, but he is already showing signs of being an inefficient volume scorer. He's fun to watch and I'm happy for the Bucks, but I'm still glad we got Jonny, especially when you factor in attitude.

this is just my opinion and i've voiced it a few times, and I'd love for it to actually not happen because I hate when this happens... but I see Jennings having a Starbury/TO/Bertuzzi like meltdown at some point in time such that his career never recovers.

My thoughts exactly, I could easily see him having a less insane Marbury type career arc.
