Brooklyn stadium question from outside fan

Post#1 » by diggity_88 » Fri Dec 11, 2009 2:01 am

Hey, I was just wondering because I wasnt sure where to find the updates on it. But, is there a time schedule for the Brooklyn stadium? Is it 2010? Or is it even still underway? (i've heard here and there that they might even follow through with it).

Also, if they do move to Brooklyn.. have they mentioned anything about new jerseys (not the city)? To sorta resemble a new beginning I guess.

The goal is to break ground by the end of the month / January and I think the hope is that the move is complete by 2011-2012 =/...

I would imagine the team gets new jerseys, it's not even 100% certain whether they retain the name "Nets" or go with something new at this point in time...

What's up with this Izod/Prudential debate for next year? Shouldn't the Nets obviously want to play in the stadium that is actually nice?
To Dare Is To Do? 13 League Titles. You've only got 2.

The Times reports the Nets would move to Newark starting next season under a complex deal worked out by state officials. Under the deal, the Prudential Center would be the Nets’ home at least until 2012. They wouldn’t have to pay a $7.5 million penalty for leaving the IZOD and the Nets and Devils would jointly market ticket packages. The Nets would also share in suite revenue from games at “The Rock”.

It makes sense on a number of levels that they wouldn't be allowed to just switch arenas mid-season... I think they want to and will move to the Prudential center but don't want to come out and commit to that move publicly until Brooklyn is 100% squared away.

New Jersey isn't a city.

Yeah it's looking like the ROCK for 2010 and 2011, then Brooklyn for 2012.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
