If Henry came out this year? Where would you guys put him ...in that 6-10 range?

I need to see more of him, but right now I'd put him anywhere from 8 to 15.

Re: Xavier Henry comparison
The player he most reminds me of is Finley crossed with Majerle.

Um...strength, athleticism, ballhandling, high bball IQ, shooting ability, work ethic, good size, defense. Other than that, he's nothing special.

Re: Xavier Henry comparison
It's funny how one dumb comment can derail a thread for multiple pages. I think the James Harden comparison has been thoroughly debunked.
Moving on, I submit that he could be a SG version of Danny Granger. (Obviously, he'd need to pretty much max out his upside to get there, but still.)

His handles arent that good and his bbiq is nothing special. So far he's got a good body and a good shot thats it. At the college level thats more than enough to be a go to scorer it isnt at the NBA level.
edit: and yes I feel fine saying this right after watching the Kansas game where he scored in droves

Re: Xavier Henry comparison
After watching him put up 31 pts on 10-15 in just 29 minutes today, regardless of who his best comparison might be, he is pretty damn good.
Actually, the more I watch of him, it's hard not to be reminded of a young Ray Allen. A stronger, southpaw version.

I couldn't disagree more.

Re: Xavier Henry comparison
I question his ability to put the ball on the floor and score it with regularity....Not saying he can't do it, just haven't seen it a ton with consistency...
However, I do think his basketball IQ is very high, he knows where to be on the court, and makes good passes, made some nice passes inside to his big men today, and plays a very smart game.

I think he can be a Glen Rice type of player in the nba.

A prime Glen Rice was a beast. I was just thinking the other day, "When are we going to see another Glen Rice?".
I don't see it.
I like him a lot though. Still see a Finley Lite mixed with Majerle.
Great shot, NBA body, great athleticism, good BBIQ, solid passer but not a playmaker, hard finisher, shoddy handles, solid defense...

Re: Xavier Henry comparison
Henry is a legit 6'6'' with an NBA body and a knack for scoring. He does not have the playmaking or ball handling skills that a James Harden does, but he does have a good feel for the game and for scoring. This is why I compare him a lot to John Salmons (with a little less playmaking).

I can see that comparison. I havent seen anything from Xavier that suggests he can consistenly create and make his own shot at the NBA level (let alone for others). Unless he develops that ability (not guaranteed by any means) or just busts some stuff out of nowhere I can't see him going before the teens. Right now he's projecting to be a very good roleplayer. He'll hit the open shots he's given, drive when he sees a lane, make the right plays, defend well, but a roleplayer 4th option kind of guy (again as of now).

Re: Xavier Henry comparison
He doesn't need to create his own shot if he can shoot 3s all day next to D ROSE. Bulls fans are drooling over him.
DX has him at 19. Where does everyone think he will go?
I see between 6-9. I compare his value and ability in the league much to Eric Gordon. Not because their games are very similar but rather because they both get it done and people underappreciate them. X is not FLASHY thats for sure. Either is eric Gordon but he scores and can really shoot.

whether you wanna compare xavier to salmons when he was a prospect or if you wanna compare him to what salmons has become, i just dont see it.
when salmons was a prospect he was the primary ball-handler for miami. he was great at making plays. when he first got inot the league he was known for his defense and his ability to be a secondary ball-handler. in recent yrs he's become someone who can create his own shot off the bounce, get in the lane via spins moves, make pull-ups and other contested shots, but he is not known for his ability to hit spot up jumpers.
none of that describes xavier
however i do agree with the bolded portion for the most part. that is also how i project harden.
