I'm not even a Celtic fan but when they're healthy I think they are the better team, especially with Rondo playing phenomenal.

The shaq/kobe teams had at least 5 guys who knew what killer instinct meant and who could actually step up when it was needed (big shot rob, kobe, shaq, fish, even fox n shaw had their moments). This team has kobe, arteezy, n fish. the rest are good players but not desperation-time hot-heads.

I get the spirit of the thread and didn't even bother opening the "OMG BEST TEAM EVR!!" threads...but first of all, if you can't talk about those thoughts on realgm, then where can you? And second off...I'm still trying to figure out why people give a **** about how they are perceived by anyone other team's fan-base.

I know a lot of guys go on the general board, and nobody wants to seem like a douche...but IMO who cares? We're Lakers fans. If people are so bored of their own teams they need to lurk around here, then let the voyeurs be voyeurs. Maybe this is just strange to me, like we have to be politically correct about our own basketball team or something. IDK. Am I alone on this?

We dont brah......... In fact you and others know that I TALK MY SHARE OF ISH and by far Im on the most wanted and hated Laker fan on this board and I have served more suspension than anyone on this board yet Im still here, YOU KNOW THAT and so does every other vet posters. BUT wth gives us the right to keep posting threads about 72 games or we are the best garbage??
We have only played 20 games and we are sitting here and comparing ourselfs to the best teams that are proven. SO what have we proven so far, that we lost three games at home and we beat 3 out of 4 scrubs on the road.

Come on now lets be real here, by the way isnt this the fourth can we win 72 games thread since the start of the season???? Lets give it break and not jinx ourselves since this is the same pattern of 08 when we posted crap like this if your recall "Lost Angels" thread that we complained about starting and the next two days Bynum went down for the rest of the season.

+10, totally agree with my boy Deep here. Seriously guys, we have only played 20 games with 80% of it were at home against scrub teams.

Lets not even compare to the 80s because that is an insult to basketball, the Showtime team will arguably blow this current team out of the water. If Bynum can't rebound against these "physical" teams imagine what Kareem and Thompson and AC Green would have done. The way we leave 3 point shooters wide open Byron Scott would have eaten the defense alive. Magic would run circle all over Derek FIsher.

Lets bring back recent history, did some of you forget our 3 peat team in 2000-2002?? COme on that prime Shaq would average 35 and 15 easily against this team and while young Kobe vs Older Kobe would be interesting, I don't think anybody on this squad can guard the young and quick Kobe. Also the young Fisher owns old Fisher. What about Rick Fox? him and Artest would be a good matchup but don't forget the intangible they have with Big Shot Robert Horry.

We still have A LOT of work to do like 62 more regular season games and win 16 more games afterwards and even if we do so I still wouldn't call this team the GOAT. If this team can prove to me by winning several championship in a row and form a dynasty then we can debate the topic. But as of right now its pretty much saying Andrew Bynum is the greatest Laker Center of all time.

See that's the problem Minhee, these youngsters never saw those guys play & the little bit of good play they see is the best they ever saw, but they fail to realize that not only were there player that were around before that were better, there were teams around that were way better. I agree about our 80's Lakers teams. You put them in this league now...............No answer. These teams heads would be down as soon as they stepped onto the court!!

I think these 72 game threads were started last year when we were off to a 18-3 start...honestly I don't even think we will match last year's 65 game record.

Take it back to the 2004 team with GP, Karl, Kobe and Shaq. I wasn't a member but I remember reading threads about how this has to be the greatest team of all time because of 4 hall of famers. End Result? Not only did we not win 70 games, we didn't even win 60 that year!! Our record was 56-26 and to make matters worse we LOST in the Finals to a team with NO superstar.

These threads are an official jinx. Like Kobe, I really only care about championships. Ask Mark Cuban how he felt about winning 67 games and losing in the 1st round.

It takes about 30 seconds to skim over these OPs to realize they're little kids. Of course they're excited about this team. And for good reason.

Is it excessive, way too soon, kind of annoying? Yes.

But to me the problem is that somehow we're thinking it's going to jinx the team or something. Or by some fans getting cocky, it's going to make the players arrogant and lazy. This is a championship team here. We don't have much to do with it.

Ha ha, I hadn't even read Minhee's post yet and she calls it a jinx. I guess agree to disagree.

Let the Bulls have their 72 wins, MJ and their 6 titles, at the end of the day it still ain't enough to compare to the Laker franchise and it never will.

I'm with both of you. The only way i'll co-sign on the icing on the cake stuff is if it is within reach & the team is just rolling like that. What I want most is for Kobe to finish with at least 7 rings & the Lakers keep pieces coming in to continue to win chips after he's past his prime & out of the league.

Lakers have great talent and are jelling as a team but lets see how they overcome long road trips and Kobe finger issue before we say they are the "Best Team Ever"
