is it just me or this dude does NOT make anyone better on the floor really?
he looks like a poor-man's iverson, i know i have never really liked devin harris but he doesn't make anyone better, he only passes when hes forced to or on flashy lobs to lopez but thats about it. He's had horrible shot selection, hes at best a 6th man like jason terry or better off being traded but i would not be surprised if we got the #1 pick we jus shipped off harris on draft night and got wall or something i guess we cant get rid of him now anyway because theres no fans in the crowd as is
hes better off a 6thman or something elsewhere cuz all hes good at is scoring, and his defense has fell off significantly since moving from the mavericks... am i the only one that feels this way? I just don't like PG's that are only concerned about scoring.
oh almost forgot that hes always injured

Re: Devin Harris
It's you. Your man-love CDR (j/k) is even more guilty of killing ball movement and not "making his teammates better". The statistics back me up too
As far as Devin's defense goes after a strong start the team is just terrible defensively. You ever notice how if you look at the starters on a good defensive team you can be like "Hmmm those 5 guys are good defensive players."
The truth of the matter is that those 5 guys aren't necessarily good one-on-one defenders it's just that they cover so well for each other that a defensive mistake by one of them is erased by someone else.
The reverse holds true as well on a bad defensive team the tendency is to assume that all of the players suck defensively, but that's not necessarily the case. As an example if Devin were to get beat by his man but his man gets blocked by Lopez the reaction is "Devin did a good job of funneling his man into Lopez" conversely if Devin gets beat by his man and his man gets a layup because nobody stepped up it's "Devin you suck!"
Defense is a team effort.
With all that being said if you want to go and complain about how Devin's jumper is way off this season then by all means go ahead and do so.

Re: Devin Harris
im not saying harris is a bad scorer or that his jumper is off
he just takes bad shots.
and he doesn't seem to know when to mix it up, for ex guys like cp3, dwill, nash, billups, even parker know when to be setting up their teammates and then when to be stepping up offensively
fact of the matter is hes a scorer and hes better off suited for a 6th man role where u can unleash him offensively or playing next to a big, strong, defensive pg (ala iverson and eric snow)

i think he just needs a better team around him. I dont think he can be a good "PG" unless he has good scorers around him. I dont blame him though

does anyone not remember the blur we saw last year?
This guy clearly is not in shape yet...he did not have a training camp he is still finding his legs, give him a damn break.

ahhhh...its gettin dirty in here...you got the players and you have the front office and new coachin staff (partial)...once the media decides to turn this into an afternoon soap opra, general hospital style...Its gonna get dirty...
Buckle down, we're in for the Grey's Anatomy of Basketball...
fyi, you guys make me laugh in regards to Devin's play, check first his return from injury, nothing major, but he has his legs back...check the team he's playing with and what he's dealing with and you find an Allstar now talking more than he's playing...
I agree the lines are divided...but its difficult, you have to have the locker room chemistry, a guy who will bring a team together...I dunno if that exists within our locker room, but that glue is hard to find, especially during these low points..
This team needs to man up accumaltively on the floor, or the disgruntled stank will only get worse... ultimately turning us into unprofessional bunch of winers...there are ballers out there that would give any thing to play for 25% of what league's minmum is...I've been biting my tongue for awhile, but this is getting to be pathetic...I dont like losing this way, we're mind ------- ourselves...
play with some heart and pride...thats all I ask...

Re: Devin Harris
^^ Agreed.
Devin has been disappointing so far nothing like last year. Not all his fault though. Guys are begining to see the light and they know the seasons over so I think we're starting to pack it in. Show a little pride out there (you play to win the game, hello) I was gonna see another game or two before the year was over but not if we're just gonna get blown out every night.
Once the other team hits there run we can't recover from it and we hang our heads like here we go again. The effort is there in the beginning but once they see it slipping away they just let go instead of trying to fight back.

Re: Devin Harris
I'm not sure why Devin would question the direction of the team. To me and everyone else over here I think it looks pretty obvious (loads of capspace...two first rounders). What the Nets are doing right now is no different than what 25% of the league is doing; which is pack it in and wait for free agency next year. The only difference is the losses are coming on much grander scale because of the steak; which coincidentally will end up helping us in the end because a higher draft pick will yield a better bargaining chip/higher profile rookie in the draft.
Im not condoning this rebuilding strategy, but with the system in place it seems this is the most effective way to rebuild in the salary cap era.
So the locker room is divided. Who cares? This is a lost season anyway. These games are all meaningless. The more losses the better. Like it or not, this is the way to rebuild in todays NBA.

Re: Devin Harris
Come on, the Nets can save themselves the embarrassment...did the Spurs start shooting each other down the year before they got Duncan...Obviously this is a different team, but we need to act accordingly...
No matter what way you spin it, there is just a proper way any team should conduct themselves and handle these sort of issues...as Rod just explained, the Nets will be taking care of business internally...behind close doors...this has nothing to do with winning and losing...its how we're losing and what has manifested...
A lot of these Nets players wont be around next year and that does have something to do with it...but someone, coach, a player had to step in here...and Thorn basically took care of that...which you have to appreciate...any GM who can ultimately lay down the ground rules for a team code of conduct during a phase like this has the respect of the organization from A to Z...again, we're fortunate to have him and I hope he is here to stay, when the new regime arrives...

Re: Devin Harris
I just think that he's trying too hard and trying to make things happen himself, mainly due to this horrendous play of pretty much everyone else(except CDR and Lopez). But I think once we get on let's say a 3-game winning streak (let's pray to God!), I think he'll calm down a bit and let instincts take over his play rather than him thinking it too much.
P.S. BTW I have a request from either Netsforce or HalfHAVOC. Can Any of you guys make me sig? Preferably either Lupe, Darrelle Revis, Lopez or CDR, I've been trying to ask the G&D board for ages and I ain't getting no response.
