Wish List for Bigs Dec 15th

Post#1 » by pickaxe » Fri Dec 11, 2009 11:36 am

I can't think of any off the top of my head, but the Dec. 15th date is coming up fast. Post the name of a big you would like to +add to our team, or make a small trade for. Small meaning no integral part of our lineup would be traded - and you have to think of the player's value to the team once we get that big man in there.

Teams that aren't doing so well and aren't contending I would think have added a few more options for us, but contending teams might be a good place to look for that one piece because maybe they have a guy that is redundant and we have the perfect role player for them.

What do you think?

Umm why does it have to be 15th?

I can see Clippers giving up DeAndre Jordan... once Blake Griffin returns from injury. And especially if he can have a ROY type of season, then DeAndre become expendable and we might be able to get him for cheap. Dude is massive and long... he can really defend in the post, and will change a lot of shots by being in the paint alone. Unlike Camby or Birdman, he plays true big man positional defense and he can actually still block from the weakside just like Camby or Bird too... if it gets to the point there's no minutes for him, we might be able to get him for cheap.

I wanted Yi Jianlian but although he can rebound, dude is soft in the paint... and now is injured, so we can forget him lol

Yi would mean automatic all star showings for Nene, JR, Melo, and Billups every year.

Just that it opens up trades for more players that are restricted until the 15th. The FO has in the past been very good about adding something to the mix when we have a rebounding weakness. Hope they're doing their homework.

Teams I think should make moves Bulls, Nets, Wizards

All happen to be in the East, so more likely to trade with us.

Jamison would be great, he actually rebounds the ball and at the same time spreads the defense with his 3s... and his finishings in the paint help us. However, only downside is (if we trade Kenyon for him) he doesn't defense in any inch of his body... but if we as a team step up and commit to play great team defense, he can be a great team defense player. He also has played with volume scorers like Arenas and Butler and still can play his game... so he would not be in Melo's way.

Jamison would be good, but in know way should we trade Kenyon for him. Jamison is a terrible defender, and loosing K-Mart our defensive core would be devastating. We play terrible team defense without him. I think all three games he has been out we have lost.

I wish we could have drafted Dejaun Blair...

Leg, you mean you wish the Nugs WOULD have drafted Blair (me too). They COULD have drafted him if they hadn't sold their 2nd to Houston on draft night. D'oh! He and Lawson were the two guys outside the lottery whose body of work said both "ready" and "special". Nabbing them both and filling needs with them would have been too sweet. Ah, well. Let Chuck Hayes tell you how sometimes you have to pay more attention to what a guy does and less to how far the top of his head is from the basket.

A couple of decent insurance-policy type vets: Kurt Thomas (my fave) and Rasho Nesterovic.

I still think Yi would be a very intriguing pickup, though I don't think the Nugs have what it would take to get him. Ideally, the Nugs would find a young big who can rebound, shoot and defend, with the potential to pass Birdman and KMart in the next year or two. Yi's the closest I can see.

I would like either Udonis Haslem, Marcin Gortat, or Brandon Bass.

Lesser pickups like Jason Maxiell, Kurt Thomas, or Francisco Elson wouldn' t be bad either.

^Diop ain't bad, he was quite a force defensively as a Mav, never really tracked him after he was traded to Cats.

He is the kind of thick defensive center who can give Bynum and Gasol some trouble.

His contract of $6-7 mil per running 2 more years at least with a player option at the end, is ugly though. And not sure if he can stay out of foul trouble.
