LeBron puts up ridiculous stats so its all about keeping the gap between the Cavs and Lakers record not that huge.

If the Lakers win 65+ games and the best record in the L then Kobe got it locked up. Everyone else is just playing for 2nd place on the MVP ballot.

Kobe and LeBron are the frontrunners at this point, but the season is still young. The Cavs have struggled a bit and the Lakers have barely been on the road. Nothing's locked up yet.

Kobe and LeBron just flipped for me tonight.

Its really close, to the point where one loss makes a difference

LeBron
Kobe

Melo
Nash

Dirk.

Well he is a 45% shooter, but his scoring is down a bit because of the return of Pau. His assists are going up though.

I mean, LeBron's scoring 25 and change on 46.6% shooting. It's not their scoring in December is that different.

Ahh good point, I didnt notice his scoring was that down this month. Nonetheless he is still averaging more points, rebound, and assists on better percentages than Kobe this month.

no player has mentioned from best team of the year so far?

I think pierce has been playing at MVP caliber this season. his stats are not looking impressive due to blow outs and his matured and unselfish play , but i think he deserves to be mention

He's not even close to being the SF MVP.

judging by how you judge MVP, why isnt any Celtic or Magic player in the MVP race then?

Dirk is having an insanely good year, he should be top 5.

Nash can make a superstar out of pretty much anyone, he should get consideration but not win.

Lebron with another epic performance on the road. He is now averaging an absurd 37 ppg 7 rpg 7 apg in his last 4 games. On the season he is avg 28.8 ppg 8 apg and 7 rpg on 51.1 % fg and 37.4 3pt % :o

Its pretty clear who the front runner right now is for the award.

Agreed. Kobe is clearly the frontrunner. That being said, Lebron had a great performance last night against OKC.

The Lakers are still the best team in the league and projected to win 8 more games than Cleveland. Also, the game against the Jazz shows Kobe's value to the Lakers. With Kobe limited, the Jazz were able to make mincemeat of LA.

Also your methodology is pretty stupid. Two of those games were losses. Now you're going back and using performances in which CAVS fans were disappointed with Lebron to boost him over Bryant.

If you want to argue for Lebron, fine. Don't use stupid arguments and insult the intelligence of the people on the thread.

Haha.. They went 2-2 in those 4 games with losses to the Grizzlies and Rockets.

Kobe is still the MVP. Too many bad losses for the Cavs.

LeBron's shooting ability from all ranges is surreal, he could end up being as great as Larry Bird....or better :o :o

 Lebron goes 16-29fg 5-8 from 3 with 44,7,6,4, while Kobe goes 7-24 and SINGLE handedly lost the game like I've never seen a superstar do (everyone in the starting lineup shot 56%, kobe 29%). Yea I'm sure he is the MVP right now
