Baron Davis for JJ
Would you guys do it? We'll throw in a 1st round pick if that greases the wheels.

I don't think anyone here would do that.

What if we added Al Thornton and perhaps Deandre Jordan?

It doesn't make much sense for Atlanta. What are you going to do with Mike Bibby on the team? Having a 3 deep rotation at the point and a 1 deep one at the 2 and 3 doesn't exactly make you a better team.

I just don't get it. Do you want to move Baron for an expiring or is there something particularly interesting about Joe Johnson that you like? The Clippers and Hawks seem like awful trading partners.

Baron Davis for expirings isn't really my motive here. I am looking for a team that could use an upgrade at PG and in exchange would provide a swing forward. Now JJ is a top flight swing guard/forward, which isn't necessarily what I would have to have, I just figured that this would be a way to provide value for JJ since it seems from what I can gather that there will be a separation for JJ and the Hawks this offseason. As far as what we would offer, I think anything outside of Gordon and Griffin would be available, with the possible exception of Kaman (I wouldn't be asking for a great center in return just a serviceable one).

The Hawks have Bibby,Crawford, and Teague. Baron is having a better year than any of those 3...but do the Hawks really need an upgrade at pg at the expense of a 21 and 5 SG when they have a 17-6 record?

Re: Baron Davis for JJ
1st of all, Baron Davis is an albatross. His contract alone is a killer, considering his health (and he ain't gettin' any younger). There's a very great chance that his play will continue to drop off each year. When you factor in his 40% shooting (30% from 3), he's not someone I'd want.
Right now, we're a 4-PG team, with Joe as our most productive PG (I know where he plays/defends, I'm talking about how he runs our offense). That means we have 4 guys (with usually 2 on the court at all times) who "go iso" and then either score or kick out. I don't agree with that type of offensive scheme, but it's working, so what do I know?
And, since it's working, it'd be crazy to change the chemistry, unless we were forced to.

Re: Baron Davis for JJ
Sorry, I meant to add this to the above post. Al Horford said it best:
We have to keep a good thing going. Joe probably has more to do with our recent good play than anyone else: he's moving the ball while still getting his shots and he's doing it at a high level.
We were moving the ball well all night, as we have been the last few games especially. And we got open looks, which we knocked down consistently. It's nice to see every guy in the scoring column.

I laughed at this thread title. Hell no I wouldn't trade JJ for an older and overpaid Baron Davis.

Re: Baron Davis for JJ
Personally I'd rather Joe walk as a free agent next summer than see Baron Davis in a Hawks uniform. I've seen too much of moody, unhappy Baron over the years destroying teams to even entertain the thought.

The more interesting question is whether people would do Bibby and Zaza for Baron. Personally I wouldn't want Baron on the team under any circumstances.

Re: Baron Davis for JJ
Baron Davis is a very bi-polar player.
Boom Dizzle is an electrifying player who plays with heart and hustle. He takes it to the hole with powerful drive and thunderous dunks, and drills long shots when defenders begin sagging off. He commands the attention on the floor, and sets up his teammates for easy shots with his great vision and deft ball handling. Defensively, he bullies around weaker guards with his strength, and darts in for steals and deflections. Boom Dizzle is a Top 10 player.
Boom Fizzle is a leaden player who plays like he is shackled with concrete blocks attached to his limbs. He never takes it to the hole, and launches out-of-rhythm jumpers at all times. He is oft-ignored on the floor, and never sets up his teammates because he is too busy turning over the ball. Defensively, he does nothing despite his strength, and darts in for reach in fouls. Boom Fizzle is a Top 150 player.
Boom Dizzle hasn't shown up in two full seasons, and our team is bipolar enough as is already. Would I give him a shot on the Hawks for a bit? Sure. Being laden with his long ass contract, and giving up quality players? Hell no.

I would do this deal:
Clippers Get: Iggy
Clippers Give: Baron/Thornton/'10 First from MIN via LAC (Unprotected in 2012)
Hawks Get: Baron/Thornton/'10 First from MIN via LAC (Unprotected in 2012)
Hawks Give: JJ
Sixers Get: JJ

Stupidest trade ever Iggy is not worth what the Clippers are giving up.
Sixers need to give up someone else I agree.
Iggy is alot better than people give him credit for. Sure he isn't going to lead a team as we have seen from his days as a Sixer, yet he is more than capable to be the missing piece to a team on the rise with already established leaders with superstar level talent.
He would actually fit in more with the Hawks than the Clippers. I would have him over JJ because Iggy is a strong defensive player with hops
"People talk about Clyde Drexler being the best player on the team, but I say it was Kevin Duckworth. If he played well, we knew we were going to win."

But the Hawks wouldn't. Baron isn't needed when we have 3 other guys who can play the point. Plus now we make our SG rotation very thing with only Crawford (Mo sucks so he doesn't count). The pick might be solid, but unless Minny falls out of the top 10, we have to wait until 2012 to get a pick when they would have an established core.
