Rondo, Pierce & KG get in this year no Ray Allen.

Ray Allen gets in if there are about 3 injuries and Perkins gets in if there are about 3-4 injuries to the front court spots. Both Ray & Perk are highly unlikely to make it even though both are having fine seasons. IMO.

I think he makes it as a coaches's choice, especially if Doc is the coach. Rondo is OUR MVP/all star at the moment. When the season started it was Pierce then KG took over but if you want to find the guy responsible for our 10 game streak you don't have to look any further than Rajon Rondo. Rondo, KG and Perk have been our best players in the early going. Pierce is definitely in a slump but I know he'll be there when we need him. KG has been so hot that Pierce isn't touching the ball as much. But Rondo has improved his scoring, his passing and his defense. To me he is definitely in the upper echelon of pgs in the league along with CP3, Nash and Deron Williams. Rose isn't far behind but right now Rondo is in front of him. Jennings and Flynn are nice rookie pgs and I expect they will develop into really good players but right now ROndois a cut above them as well. Parker is a great scoring pg but he's not assist guy that rondo is.

last 6 games, Rondo is our all star, the rest of em are debatable. Ray certainly is past the all star point in his career. Should've been MVP a couple of years ago, though.

I have watched all games and if I also take into account victory cigar meter (Rondo 6, KG 5, Pierce 5) I really think it is a tie. Pierce was mvp in first games, than KG took over, Rondo is playing the best in last games...so it is very hard to decide.

Better = Wade, Arenas, Joe Johnson
Maybe better = Iguodala, Vince, Jennings
Not better = Rose, Stuckey, Ray Allen, Devin Harris, Mo Williams

SFs on team = LeBron, Pierce, Granger
PFs/Cs on team = Howard, KG, Bosh

On the bubble = Gerald Wallace, Lopez, Horford/Josh Smith, Shaq

Shaq and KG may make it just for sentimental reasons, but I do like the kid's chances, even if only as an injury replacement. He's certainly worthy of it.

I don't really compare All-Stars from different positions.. Out of those players you mentioned better/maybe/not better. 6 players are the same position (PG) the others are not.
Arenas, Jennings, Rose, Stuckey, Devin Harris, Mo Williams... Out of all these players I would say Rondo is performing the best and helping his team win the most, he is not the best scorer on the list, but I would say overall better. I know he has three future hall of famers. But let's face it they are getting old and these guys as much as I like them have lost speed to their ghame and the way Rondo is setting his players up and positioning in them spots for buckets is great. I mean how many times has he been close triple doubles and how many double doubles has he had?
The fact of the matter is that he most certainly does deserve or should be considered for sure. However, since he does not get the same attention as other PG's that are on teams that are not as good and are required to take over scoring for their team, he may be over looked + it doesn't help Rondo he has Pierce, Garnett, and Alen...

I think even people who hate Rondo would have to admit watching him run an all star team with Wade/James/Bosh/Howard would be alot of fun to watch. Here's what I think the team should look like keeping in mind the starting 5 is voted by the fans.

Wade / Rondo
Carter / Joe Johnson
James / Pierce / Granger
KG / Bosh / Josh Smith
Howard / Bogut

here is my All-star team for the East.

D-Wade / Rajon Rondo
Vince Carter / Joe Johnson
Lebron James / Paul Pierce
Kevin Garnett / Chris Bosh / Josh Smith
Dwight Howard / Andrew Bogut / Brook Lopez

The coaches and GMs always seem to award guys who are playing good for winning teams. Boston right now has the best record in the east with 3 player who should be in the all-star game...Orlando 2nd best record in the east they have 2 guys going…..Atlanta tied for the 2nd best record in the east they have 2 guys going. Brook Lopez is have a great year for a losing team but he is playing like an all-star…..Andrew Bogut is playing great too and the Bucks are doing much better then anyone expected. I really don’t see how you can put anyone else on the team. Toronto sucks too much to have two guys from their team so Chris Bosh should be the only one from that team to make it.

I think Rondo definitely deserves a serious consideration. However, Arenas, Jennings and others mentioned above also deserve considerations for the reasons sated above.

For me, personally, if the Celtics are going to have 3 all-stars, it should be KG, PP and Rondo. Rondo deserves it over Ray.

Obviously whoever the coach is going to want at least one real pg on the roster.

There are only 4 teams playing better than .500 ball in the East right now. If the starters remain the same then Arenas isn't going.

So assume Wade/Carter/James/Garnett/Howard

Then the likely reserves are Joe Johnson/Pierce/Rashard Lewis/Bosh and I am just going to guess that Mo Williams is going to make this team. They could bump Lewis for Josh Smith but I doubt it.

That leaves two more roster spots. One should be a pg I think players under consideration will be Rose, Rondo, Stuckey, Jennings. As well as Ray, Josh Smith, Ben Gordon, Bogut, and maybe even Perk and the 3 guys in Wash will probably get some attention if they ever start winning some games. Of that list Rondo and Ray probably are the most deserving especially if Ray is going to continue to shoot the 3 at 43% for the month. I think it would be hard to put 4 Celts on the team but this year the competition is pretty awful. I think they will probably name Rondo and pass on Ray, and just have Ray be the in case of injury guy.

bc legends wrote:Rondo is absolutely deserving of a roster selection in the AS game at this point in the season. However the majority of the selections are made via popularity, something Rondo doesn't necessarily have enough of at this point in his career. The guard selections also aren't very specific in regards to the fact that there can be a SG playing the 1 spot, which lessens his chances. I don't see him getting voted in, but I think he would have a great chance of making it on the team as a coaches selection(preferably Doc's if Boston is maintains the best record in the Eastern Conference).

I think the other Head Coaches can vote him in but if Doc is coaching the East he can't vote for Rondo.

I actually think the key is Ray Allen not making it.. I think PP probably still makes it - as does KG. But RA doesn't then Rondo can take a spot. I don't see us getting 4 spots.. OTOH if RA puts up a couple monster games in big time situations he could still make it..

Areanas is a better player then Rondo. But he doesnt played like one so far this year so if he wont improve then Rondo should be an Allstar bedore agent 0.

Guards who should start before RR: VC, JoJo and Wade.

And then you have one spot (maybe 2 or 3 depends on the wild cards) for:
Rondo/Iggy/Mo/Areanas/Jennings...
