Packers Post-Game Thread (Kansas City)
For MVP today I give it to the coach in the replay booth. I think we all were deflated when Huard made that long completion, but then immediately on that first replay you noticed the receiver didn't get two feet inbounds.
That was great camera work when that assistant started screaming at MM to toss the red flag and then MM struggled to find it in his pocket.
I still see this team as a bit like the 2002 Bears that went 13-3. A good team but getting some breaks to win. We've still got some holes between the safety position, the penalties and the running game, and are still a good offseason away IMO from being a true championship contender.
Greg Jennings is a steal......he seems to get more confidence each week.
I'm also hoping that MM plays it a bit more conservative and trusts his D. It was stupid to be firing risky sideline routes like we were right before the half on the pass that got picked off. Whether the hit on Favre's arm caused the INT or not, you shouldn't be making a pass like that under those circumstances. That almost cost us the game.

What a great game. I missed the first quarter cause I was still passed out from my activities from the Bucks game last night. But a good crazy game. Brett finally gets his W against the Chiefs. Unreal that only 3 players have beaten all teams now. (Manning, Brady, Favre) thats a damn fine group of QB's.

I can't believe that every game this year has still been very much in doubt in the 4th quarter. I look forward to a game in which we have a two touchdown lead and I can relax during the last period. But despite that fact, we've still come out on top in 7 of 8. And that's now 11 of 12 against a pretty tough schedule, not to mention a bunch of bad calls going against us earlier in the year.
And, after the last two weeks, we are now a legitimate threat to go deep.
I think we ran the ball just about the right amount today. Not the time to force it.
Good job Pack! Well done all around!

Did Bowe play for KC today? Did you guys just shut him down or did he sit for some reason....and yes, he's on my fantasy team.

The Good
Deep passing game again was vital
Defense in the first half
Hawk finally made a big play
The running game was at least tolerable
Defense got some big turnovers
Woodson actually had a big return
Crosby had some big kicks that were scary close to missing
Greg Jennings
The Bad
Daryn College showing no improvement on last year
Should have sat on the ball right before half time
The number of penalties Woodson draws is troubling
Bigby roasted in coverage again
Defense letting a terrible offense drive for back to back TD's
To many penalties yet again
Collins/Williams with knee injuries
Even though Collins has bricks for hands and doesn't make big plays, i sure hope he's not out long.A safety combo of Bigby/Rouse scares me greatly.Williams i a good pass rushing tackle and losing him would hurt, the front four as it is hasn't put tons of pressure on QB's this year.
One other concern i have is even though we don't blitz alot, it's troubling how rarely we get to the QB when a blitz is called.Barnett is the only one who seems to get there, Hawk has really disappointed me in this aspect.

One of the best signs this year is our ability to pull games out in the 4th quarter. One of the most frustrating tendencies, however, is our ability to allow games that should have been put away, to still be in doubt late in the 4th quarter. It's only come back to haunt us once so far (Chicago) but I'd hate to lose a playoff game that we should have won because we don't know how to put anyone away.
I'm still seeing a lot of interference calls on us that look questionable to me. I still contend we've got to be one of the most penalized teams in the NFL and definitely the most unjustly penalized team in all of football.

I agree that a lot of the Pack's success this year is the simple formula of stout D, winning the turnover battle and occasional defensive scores, but I think the Packers are light years better offensively than the 2001 Bears team that went 13-3. Compare Brett Favre to Jim Miller's 13 TDs/10 INTs that year, or the fact that after Marty Booker the Bear's second leading reciever only had 428 yards for the season - Jennings and Jones already have 454 and 432, respectively, at the season's halfway mark, and TE Lee isn't too far behind at 382. The 2001 Bears also pulled off a few miracle wins against a last place schedule, whereas the Packers have beaten a lot of solid teams this year.

From King's MMQB:
I'm glad my folks have DirectTV and I'll be watching GB/Dal that game in HD.
It'd be nice to see Favre look for Lee more in the endzone. Only Witten and Shockey are playing better than Lee in the NFC. But they've got six TDs combined to Lee's one.
I wonder, if we can land another starting caliber CB or two next offseason, if Harris making a move to FS wouldn't help extend his career by four years? Though playing so far off the ball he's no longer helping with the press coverage. I don't know what to do there.
Kampman, if he ends up leading the league in sacks, will have legit shot at DPOY. The only two players on that side of the ball having better years are Trent Cole and Mike Vrable. I could see Sean Taylor making a strong case if he picks off a few more passes.
Fine 15:
3. Dallas (7-1). I repeat: Green Bay at Dallas will be on the NFL Network, with both state capitals and 70 percent of the cable homes in America not able to see the game because the channel is not on cable.
4. Green Bay (7-1). When Mike McCarthy stood in front of his team late Sunday afternoon in the bowels of Arrowhead Stadium, he said exactly the right thing. Basically, it was this: To have won at Denver and Kansas City in the span of six days is a colossal achievement, and you men should be proud of yourselves.
Quote of the Week I
"Maybe we're the Saints of 2006. Maybe it's time to start believing, rather than keep wondering about how we're doing this.''
-- Green Bay quarterback Brett Favre, trying to make sense of the Packers' magical 7-1 the first half of the season.
MVP Watch
3. Brett Favre, Green Bay. Only one team is as good as New England on the road this year ... and that's Green Bay, 4-0 away from Lambeau. He's engineered wins at the Giants, Vikes, Broncos and Chiefs.
Quick hit thoughts
e. The Pack and Chiefs got to the two-minute warning of the first half 57 minutes after the start of the game. Now that's a quick ballgame. Then it went into quicksand. The last two minutes took 23 minutes.
4. I think this is all you need to know about the state of the NFL today: We are halfway through the season, and Chicago, which has not been ravaged by injuries, looks very much like the fourth-best team in the NFC North. I mean, how do you explain things like this? "And the thing is,'' Favre said over the cell phone last night, "Chicago can come back in the second half. Everybody can see that.''
d. Al Harris is not the best corner in football, and I know he's got only two or three productive years left, but if I could pick four cornerbacks to start a football team with, I'd pick Harris as one of them. He's the kind of physical and clingy corner every team needs.
e. Can anyone block Aaron Kampman? Anyone?
j. Speaking of the all-star game no one cares about, If Donald Lee doesn't make the Pro Bowl as one of the three NFC tight ends, the voters -- public, players and coaches -- don't know what they're doing. He's strong, fast and sure-handed.
I'm glad my folks have DirectTV and I'll be watching GB/Dal that game in HD.

They souldnt have games on the NFL network untill the channel is avilible to more people.
The Patriots final game of the regular season is on NFL Network.Just imagine the uproar if the Pats are going for 16-0 in that game.
That Dallas Packer game will probably be avalible to everyone in Wisconsin though,if you guys remember last season the Vikes@Packer game was on NFL network and it was picked up on FOX 6 here in Milwaukee.
It better be avalible.

I hate that when Packer games are on at ESPN or NFL Network only Milwaukee and Green Bay get the game on a local channel.
Why don't they put it on a local channel for Madison, the capitol and second largest city of Wisconsin?
In Madison we can't even get the freaking Badger games on the Big Ten Network on a local channel.

I got my deal after a guy wrongly gave me that quote. Then i get my bill, it was for 150 instead of 112. So i called Time Warner and the lady said the guy who gave me the quote was wrong and it was to low, i told her i never would have signed up for the bundle back at 150 and i'll just switch to dish and DSL.
She was very cool and gave me everything at the quote the first guy gave me and even threw in the HBO for the year.Hard for me to switch to dish now, but i hate not have the BTN and dish does have more HD channels. If they don't get the BTN soon, i might just switch because i don't want to miss the Badgers basketball and hockey games.
