Bye Roy... the one real generational player in Toronto Sports history, unfortunately.

So long Doc, you're obviously a Blue Jay and Toronto sports legend, and your departure will truly mark the end of this post-93 era... Sad that we weren't able to win a WS (or even make the playoffs) for ya, but you definitely got that opportunity now in Philly.

One of my favourite athletes in all sports. Talent, work ethic, character.... the greatest Blue Jay of all time. It's sad to see him go, but hopefully Doc can see some postseason action in Philly.

Seeing him go hurts a tonne, but I'm less upset than I thought I might be, and a lot of that has to do with the organization he's going to...playing with the Phillies gives him an excellent chance of getting a ring, and also a shot at another Cy and Hall of Fame credentials.

As great as it would have been to see him achieve all of that with the Jays, I'm just happy that he'll likely get a chance to achieve it at all.

Roy was the only reason I watched the Jays.

Later Doc. If there was one pitcher I could choose to pitch game 7 of a World Series, Doc would be that dude. The most professional athlete I've had the pleasure of watching, and it's going to be awfully odd not seeing him blank opponents every 5th day in the summer. Hope he puts up another Cy worthy performance in 2010 and gets a legit chance to win a ring.

Looks like I'll be watching Philly games, with addition to Jays games. It hurts to seem him go...but at least he'll have a chance to win a ring, and to actually play in the playoffs. We're losing the best individual player in all of Toronto sports but at the very least he's going to a great team. I'm happy it's the Phillies though and not the Yankees or Red Sox.

Classy all the way. I hope he goes into the HOF as a Blue Jay. Good luck Roy.

So glad he's not going to the Yanks or Sox. I think he has enough in the tank to make a whole new career for himself in a contending uniform. Like Curt Schilling. If Roy wins a World Series, that's how MLB fans will remember him.

Of all the places he was rumoured to go, this Philly was my number two choice, so I'm pretty ok with this. They have the prospects to give us a good return. Philly and Toronto are somewhat of rivals, I guess, but in so much as it is true, it is a fun rivalry, not a yanks/sox sort of rivalry. And Roy almost certainly gets a few cracks at the playoffs in the next few years.

Baring an incredibly disappointing return, this is pretty much as well as this could go. I wish him all the best beating the snot out of the Yanks in next year's Series.

Absolute definition of a horse.

Shame to lose you, Roy. Good luck pitching in meaningful games for a change, you certainly deserve it.
