Bynums statistical numbers dropping at an alarming rate
After a fantastic start to the season, Andrew Bynum has come back to earth in a big way. His numbers have dipped dramatically with the return of Pau Gasol who has completely overshadowed him in every category and made the gap between star and good much harder to debate for Bynum. Discuss?

Whilst his numbers are still solid, it would be hard to argue him more important to his team than Andrew Bogut of the bucks. Bogut is having a career year and is looking rock solid in having a legitimate chance of being an allstar. Wednesday;s matchup against the bucks will be very interesting for the two young centres. Discuss?
We just have too many good players that need touches, and Andrew is not getting as many with Pau coming back. Now Pau is whining about he needs more touches, My guess is Andrew will be next. Andrew is still a good player that needs to focus on Defense, rebounding, and blocking shots instead of his touches.

Because Bynum is overrated. What's the over/under for when he gets hurt again?

Yeah, I love Pau and consider him by far our second best player...
But your team has won 11 straight and you're complaining? About TOUCHES? Gtfo.... Talk to me when you've LOST 11 straight...
Bynum's numbers were bound to go down... And I frankly couldn't care less... The 'W's keep pouring in. So no problem as far as I'm concerned...
This is a team game... If Pau or Bynum are more concerned about personal stats, then I'm sure the Nets would love to have either one of them...
At this point, for either of them, it's minutes or touches... Not both. If they want a ton of touches Pau and Bynum can't be on the floor at the same time so that means say goodby to 30+min a game.
All that being said, I think Pau was just trying to motivate his team... He just wants us to work inside out most likely, and I totally agree with that... It was just a weird way of doing it.

But Artest is our second most IMPORTANT player.
Why? We have no one to replace Artest.
Why not Gasol? We have someone to replace him.

Re: Bynums statistical numbers dropping at an alarming rate
Bynum should be fine though.
I am anxiously waiting for Kobe to tap into his inner Magic Johnson (if it even exists) and feed his two bigmen.
Really, Kobe should not be averaging more than 23 points a game for this team when they are fully loaded ... he doesn't have to.
I love him, but he's got to be more cerebral out there, thinking of other guys. Maybe that's asking too much though because unfortunately that has never been HIM. Sometimes I wish he had more Lebron and Magic in him (unselfishness).
He is what he is though ... Jordan part deaux.

Hey stop wishing injury on players because krama will get you when you keep doing that. Plus if one of our key players get hurt and we lost the title then I will hunt you down.

lol stop bitching, what did you expect with gasol back? esp with teams throwing a fast doubleteam on our two 7 footers. Take kobe out and lets bet your life that his numbers wont be up.

hes still being quite effective with his scoring. his dip in scoring numbers is a clear result of a smaller role and double teams coming quite often now. his rebounding numbers ar the biggest concern, but that should have been expected too. the balls have been bouncing gasol's way lately with his two 20 rebound games.

Re: Bynums statistical numbers dropping at an alarming rate
I wouldn't say its just the balls bouncing down Gasol's way, he's just hustling too damn hard to get those boards. Like he said if he doesn't grab those offensive boards, his scoring attempts will go down much more.
Kobe himself has seen a dip in scoring but a spike in his rebounding even with Gasol's presence.

Re: Bynums statistical numbers dropping at an alarming rate
Gasol wants more touches because it will give his team a better chance to win instead of taking more three pointers. It's the same thing Dwight Howard asked during his series with the celtics and when he asked for more touches the magic turned that series around.

It's tough when you've got another big man who shoots a high percentage, Kobe Bryant, and Ron Artest who all needs shots also. Things can never be perfect, you have to just play ball, if Pau's open and in a good position to shoot, he can do it, but to ask for more shots from him in the media, was not a good thing IMO. Take it to the coaches.

Keep in mind since the return of gasol the lakers have been blowing teams out 20+. This keeps kobe/AB out the 4th quarter. If you watched every game hes been playing the same, just his rebounding sucks ass for a long 7 footer.

I can agree to that, he shouldn't have done it through the media. Not a wise choice. However, I disagree that it's tough to get him more touches If you watch the game versus the Jazz we lost, Pau was on fire but not getting touches. And it's not like he wasn't available. He was open for a pass.
Perhaps it's hard to get him touches when the team is playing well, but if the team is playing like garbage, why is it wrong to force feed your 58% FG shooting big man with a size advantage over every single person who ever guards him?
Actually I'm not just referring to Pau, I'm more referring to Pau and Bynum together. I think those two together should be getting more touches when the Lakers are not in sync offensively. They should play the way they've been playing when their offense is in sync and shots are falling, but when that's not happening, they should start force feeding these two players as a great backup plan B to the offense.

as long as we win i could careless. bynum is a nice piece to a puzzle.
Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!

Re: Bynums statistical numbers dropping at an alarming rate
lets look at Bynum's last 4 games
13 points and 6 rebs versus Phoenix
14 points and 4 rebs versus Utah
12 points and 6 rebs versus Minnesota
13 points and 4 rebs verus Utah
shooting 27/50 FG
Worrying stats for a so called potential all star centre. If this kind of production continues which is strongly possible since the return of Pau Gasol, surely we will see a dip in his value.

Re: Bynums statistical numbers dropping at an alarming rate
No worries about a dip in value. Everybody knows what he's capable of and everyone knows he's playing on a loaded team right now. By the way the last thing I know Bynum's a keeper so his offensive production is not the most important thing right now.

Re: Bynums statistical numbers dropping at an alarming rate
The key to your team is NOT Artest it is Pau no debate. He and Odom are what makes you very difficult to beat matchup wise. You would NOT win a championship without Pau no way in hell. Bynum is (right now) not your irreplacable player.
Magic fan since Inaugural 89 season.
