Knicks Like DJ - Could We Target Jordan Hill?

Post#1 » by BigSlam » Fri Dec 11, 2009 7:12 pm

On paper it looks like the Knicks could really do with a PG - and we could really do with a back up PF with some upside.

Any chance we could use one of our PG's to steal him away from the NYK's?

Even better, a combination on one of our PG's - and say, Lexy as an upside addition?

Law and Lexy

Take note of his fouls per game. Larry isn't going to give him over 10 minutes playing like that. Still I like what he brings to the table and would definitely give up Law and Lexy for him. Don't think NY would bite.

He's only a rookie playing a handful of mpg. I would assume the fouling would get itself in check.

His per 36 show him averaging 17/10/2/2/3 (with 8 fouls!!) and he is the body type/skill set that we would like.

Maybe Felts for Hill and Nate?

Or DJ straight up for him?

maybe time to see what a DJ is worth on the open market, although i hate moving guys when their value is low.... then again... maybe DJs value is high, as some teams might still think he is a lottery type talent. i guess it just depends on which DJ will show up in a month, year, two years etc...

i havent been watching hill at all this year. how has he looked? he looked decent in summer league.

what about javale mcghee?

You're kidding right? Funny thing, today I was thinking about what reasonable 4 man out there we could trade for. Jordan Hill was one of the first that I thought of. I don't think Lexy and Law would be enough though.

I like him, but who would you play him with? Diaw? He is too similar to Chandler.

I would love to have Jordan Hill on this team. But I doubt the Knicks are willing to trade him, especially for that package (Law+Lexi) I would trade DJ for him in a heartbeat, though.

Hill is like a more aggressive, defensive minded Lamarcus Aldrige, who has also a nice postgame.

Knicks want DJ

Post#8 » by Fred Williamson » Tue Dec 15, 2009 12:33 pm

per wiretap:

http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/ ... _augustin/

Bobcats guard D.J. Augustin has been in the doghouse of coach Larry Brown and the Knicks are reportedly keeping their eyes on him.

A team source told the New York Daily News that the Knicks had extensive talks with the Bobcats last season about a deal for Augustin.

"He was part of a bigger deal," the source said. "But I know the Knicks like him very much."

Brown doesn't like the way Augustin has defended, shot or distributed the basketball lately.

Another source added that Brown is opening to trading Augustin, but has been overruled by executive Michael Jordan.

DJ for Jordan Hill.

We finally get a backup PF/C, who also has potential to be an all-star

So does this mean LB already gave up on DJ and he's choosing Ray over DJ?

Just last season, it seems that he's inclining more on DJ for the PG duties. Oh well, I can't blame him coz Ray is playing pretty solid at PG this season.

According to the source Jordan (so far) is holding Brown back from making a deal with DJ. WHAT???

Why would Jordan have some man crush on this guy? Is it because they passed on Lopez for this punk? Sorry, don't compound one mistake with another.

I would also prefer David Lee. He's the perfect down-low post playing 4 we need next to Chandler. Trade them Diaw and DJ, get Lee and Jefferies. The Jeff is big enough to play reserve 4 until we draft a guy. Does Lee represent a risk being in his last year? Yes, but we have bird rights. If he get's too expensive we S&T.

I would also like Hill but cannot see them doing a straight-up trade for DJ. The "sources" said the previous discussion was part of a larger deal. That's got to be DJ and Diaw as DiAntonni would love to get Boris back with him. I say go for it, get Lee and Jefferies, use Law as your reserve PG, and see what happens.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Lee is BYC. Nate has to approve a trade.

Figure we'd get effries (I could see LB liking him) and they'd want Boris.

Boris/DJ

for

effries/Hill/Chandler

?

Edit:

According to ESPN it's "well known" that the Knicks want to move Harrington...so maybe him and Hill?

So you think:

Hill and Harrington
for
DJ and Boris?

And start Harrington at the 4 spot?

I've never particularly liked Harrington, but I reckon he'd start if that went down. I know Boris has been struggling but I much prefer his game over Harrington's.

Which would you rather have...my scenario #1 (Hill/Chandler/effries) or #2 (Hill/Harrington)?

I'm like you. Never really liked Harrington but he would add another scorer to our line up. LB seems ok with Boris jacking up 3's so I don't think he would stop Harrington.

Again, like you, much prefer Diaw's game (wish he was working the post up 80% of the time though) but getting out of his contract might be a good thing?

I think I would go with #2 though. It would give us the better chance of the playoffs.

I guess Flip or Acie would back up Felts if this went down?

Agreed. I think the 1st package would be better in the long run but the 2nd would help us more right now (and that's obviously the thing here).

<shudder>.

So much for having solid depth at PG. That lasted all of a year.

If we weren't going to use Hendo then we should have went with Hansbrough. It seems like we're always taking one step forward and two steps back.
