Is T-Mac a HOF'er?

Post#1 » by YoungMoney23 » Tue Dec 15, 2009 9:27 am

After reading the article about Grant Hill talking about his injuries and how they could keep him out of the Hall of Fame. I thought perhaps we could discuss whether T-Mac is worthy of the Hall of Fame since his career has gone down a similar path.

Personally I still think he is as you can't hold injuries and playoff success against an individual player as this is a team sport but I don't get to vote so those who do might think differently.

As much as I like T-Mac, he does not deserve to be in HOF. Yes, his playoffs stats are remarkable, but the fact remains that he did not advance from the first round.

Sure I would like to see him in HOF some day, but I think that would be a slight insult to Barkleys, Malones, Stoctons...

This is a team sport, watch him play in the playoffs and he plays all out but the team around him comes up short. Against Detroit, Orlando were lucky to be up 3-1 against the eventual champs. In 05 against Dallas the refs had been paid off but even so Dallas had a much deeper team. First time against Utah, we had nobody to guard boozer and the second time injuries killed us.

Maybe. He is a borderline HOF. If he comes back and becomes a solid role player for 5 more years or something I think he has a chance.

100% HOF
Kobe, Duncan, KG, Shaq, Lebron, Dirk, Kidd, Nash, Wade
95% HOF:
Ray Allen, Pierce, Billups, Iverson
50% HOF:
Mac, VC, Webber, Manu

According to the Hall of Fame rating on bball-reference McGrady has a 97% chance of making the Hall

He's higher than a lot of guys, IMO he will, if guys like Adrian Dantley and many other similar players make it, I don't see why he wouldn't, but if he got some playoff success under his belt, I'm pretty sure he's in.
