Another Klomp Trade (MIN/WAS)
I hope this one isn't as bad....
Sessions and Gomes for Caron Butler.
Fillers would have to be added to do this trade financially, but what do you think of the general idea of the deal?

It's an improvement over your last big idea, to say the least.
Hrm... I guess I wouldn't complain if we did this, but I wouldn't do it if I were the GM. It makes us a better team, but Butler turns 29 this year. We get him for this year and next, and then either let him walk or re-sign him and lock ourselves into a declining player. What's the point?

Butler is going to turn 29? Holy hell it seems like he has been around forever. He will be 31 or so by the time we should hopefully be ready to compete. I dont think Caron hits a sharp decline in play until mid-30's.
I seriously consider this. Is Washington ready to blow it up like this?

1.) wash has no reason to do this trade.
2.) Butler is too old
3.) Almost anything is better than your last trade.

He's not too old, but he is playing like crap. The best part of this trade is that it wouldn't take cap space.

Re: Another Klomp Trade (MIN/WAS)
I read something the other day that implied Butler doesn't like playing with Arenas. Eventually, that could mean one of them has to go, and since Butler would be 10 x easier to trade than Arenas, I could see such a trade being a possibility. I think this is a deal we have to consider as long as Flynn keeps improving.

Re: Another Klomp Trade (MIN/WAS)
Butler has already hit a decent decline this season. Maybe it's because Arenas is back full time, I don't know. But as a player about to turn 30, I have very little interest when the rest of our core is under 25.

I have no problem with player over 30 as long as they've got a shorter contract, it's part of a bigger plan to be good next year, and it still leaves us with a good young core.

I thought you'd be interested to know that a WAS poster suggested a similar trade, with MIN taking on Stevenson's 2-year deal.
Wizards trade: Butler, Stevenson, Crittenton
Wolves trade: Sessions, Brewer, Cardinal

The Stevenson angle was one I considered taking as well, with us sending either Blount or Cardinal back. We would take on the extra year, but save roughly two million this year.

Re: Another Klomp Trade (MIN/WAS)
I'm not sure if this is the direction WAS is going. Next season, they need to decide who to re-sign: Haywood, Mike Miller or Foye, and they have some decent young players behind them. Moving DeShawn Stevenson would save money. Gomes and Session offer more talent this year, but they also offer more payroll, so if they are cutting salary with a Butler/Stevenson trade, they may be more interested in expirings.
On the other hand, they spent a fortune this year to try to compete, and they have a lot of talent. Gomes and Session add talent, and cheap talent as well. But of course, we don't want Stevenson either. And in this deal, WAS would add payroll this year, which would cost them double since they are already over the lux.
One way that we might be able to meet both our needs is to give WAS up-front savings. A deal like this:
WAS GETS: Gomes + Sessions + Cardinal + Jawai
MIN GETS: Caron Butler + Mike James + Crittendon + Dominic McGuire
.. saves WAS $3.8 mil right now, doubled for lux is $7.2 mil. Besides being a lot of cash, it gives the Wizards flexibility for next year. If they fail now, they don't spend the money on free agents, and have well-priced back-ups with Gomes and Sessions. If they succeed, they have $7.2 mil in the coffers to pay over the lux again next year.

This deal is good for the Wizards, shrink.
Sessions is a guy that's had 40+ points, 20+ assists, and a triple double. I trust him right now to be the PG of the Wizards. He's not as charismatic or as physically gifted as Flynn, but IMO he's just in the wrong place right now. Sessions is an ideal solution for Arenas on the mend mentally and physically as a player. Like Flynn, Sessions has his head on right.
Gomes can post up and score and is a stopgap type player the Wizards need.
Those two with Blatche's cheap contract will allow the Wizards to at least resign Haywood.
I like it a bunch. For Sessions I think one man's trash is another's treasure.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Re: Another Klomp Trade (MIN/WAS)
I don't know about that. AK47 contract is obviously a huge negative. I think it may be too much money to buy NY's pick.
