Wiz vs. Kings -- 12/16 at 10:30 pm EST, on ESPN

Post#1 » by AlohaWiz » Tue Dec 15, 2009 6:47 am

I realize that a lack of pics or graphics or stats may cause come people to complain, but my reply is **** that ****. The Wiz just need a win. So, go Wiz!

Long story short. I'm a Wiz fan of 10 years now. I moved to the DC area back about 10 years ago and went to some happy hours where people said "what the hell, let's go see the Wiz". Not long after that Michael Jordan came to town. As a lifelong UNC fan (and MJ fan), I began following the Wiz more closely. I became enamaored (as many fans did) when Gil the Thrill joined the team. Arenas is the kind of personality/player that you WANT to do well. You almost NEED to do well. And I continue to hope that he does do well.

Anyway, I've since moved 5,000 miles away but I'm still a Wiz fan. I still feel the pain from each loss. I don't understand why the Wiz franchise has had the problems from the past but I believe that Gil is about to turn it around and move forward to the future.

To sum it up. GO WIZ!

Edit: Sorry, forgot to include the date in the title. Spending the holidays with family + lots of beer in the fridge = sloppy play on my part (much like the Wiz!)

Is SAC playing on a b2b? If-so we are a lock to lose. I'll DVR the game so I can watch Evans get his career-high tonight.

This team is disgraceful. I have no confidence in them to even beat the Nets. We should be sitting at .500 right now but we're blowing games against the Bobcats, Pacers and Clippers.

Our PG is fragile our team is fragile. The Wiz need a win badly. Maybe we can fly to Oakland and play the Raiders instead. Not feeling very optomistic about this. Maybe Gil drops 50 tonight and stops the bleeding. Isnt Sactown one of the teams Gil had a chip on his shoulder about a couple of year ago.

Hey Gil the Kings disrespected you what you gonna do about it.

My thought before last game was "I wonder what is Eric Gordon's career high?" He almost reached it, and did have a season high of 29 points.

Tonight, I'm wondering two things: What's Tyreke Evans' career high? Also, has Jason Thompson had 20 rebounds lately?

This game features a team that's anti-Wizard-like, with very physical players. Evans, Thompson, Nocioni, Casspi, Brockman, May, Thomas, and even Mason all put a body on people. Udrih can shoot it. Rodriguez is slick with the ball. Greene is a freakish athlete.

Sacramento had been slumping, but they've gotta be happy to see this Wizards team come to town. Jamison won't have a big game against this team. Haywood might have foul problems.

If the Wizards win I'll be quite surprised.

You're right, CCJ. Sacramento is the anti-Wizards. They are undermanned, not all that talented and very young...but they give 100% effort and are rebuilding the right way.

We, on the other hand, have a healthy roster (with the exception of Mike Miller), a very talented roster and an aging core....we give about 50% effort on a good day and are not even thinking about rebuilding despite a team that's clearly not title-caliber or anything close to it.

Luck in the draft has sure helped the Kings ....

I was wrong about Evans this past draft. At first I questioned his character (saying he was from a bad part of Memphis and not Chester, PA). In addition to that I thought he'd take a while with all the turnovers he commited at Memphis and with his low 3PT FG percentages in the NCAAs. Turns out Evans is an immediate star, ROY and probably and all star right off the bat.

The other guy in the draft they got, Casspi, is a keeper, too. Very well rounded player, other than his FTs.

I can't believe how mad you guys get...it's one thing if you are a really good team and supposed to win, but we arent. Now you can just enjoy the games and not care much about the outcome. I've come to realize...this team is just not that good. They can get there, but it's going to take a lot....like GA becoming the GA of old, which im not sure will ever happen again. Man, he was so awesome to watch 3 years ago.

I am at the acceptance phase of the grieving process :) I have accepted that this team just isn't very-good. I will be more motivated to watch if Young and McGee are playing and I will watch after Ernie makes a trade.

how quick people change their tune. many projected 45-50+ wins for this team just a few months ago.

My goodness, a team's fan base taking a very optimistic tact with regard to the team's fortunes whenever possible? I'm not sure if we're being disloyal to the franchise by expressing concern for its long term outlook or if we're not the dispassionate evaluative automatons that would assume the worst (or even the likely) before we had to but either way that's silly. Everybody has a forty five win team before they have to win forty five games. We've seen what we have, our desire to see the Wizards succeed has given way to reality. This is how it works, this is what happens when you're bad.
