The key to your team is NOT Artest it is Pau no debate. He and Odom are what makes you very difficult to beat matchup wise. You would NOT win a championship without Pau no way in hell. Bynum is (right now) not your irreplacable player.

Kobe needs to give the centers tons of touches until Christmas and go for a career high in assists!!!

I think the thing that would help Kobe's legacy is a career assist night. I would love to see the centers scoring a ton of points.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

You didn't expect this to happen? Lets take Gasol away and things would be different.

Gasol is his own player. He is going to take a lot away from players on this team. The Lakers would be good if the team was Kobe/Gasol and a bunch of defensive players.

Thing is 7 footers who's game is about the post doesn't work when you having a player like Kobe. Somebody out of the 3 isn't going to get the looks like they want its obviously gonna be the guy whos been in the league the least amount of time

But Artest is our second most IMPORTANT player.

Why? We have no one to replace Artest.

Why not Gasol? We have someone to replace him.

I've thought about this for a couple days... I'm sorry, I get your point, but replacement or not, there's no way in hell Artest is more important to this team than Gasol...

Bynum doesn't 'replace' Gasol. He can carry part of the load, but with him in place of Gasol and with Artest in the lineup, we're a top tier team in the West, nothing more, nothing less... But with Gasol and Artest in the lineup we're an elite team in the NBA...

Without Artest, we'd run Kobe at SF and either Sasha or Shannon at SG... Not ideal... We'd be a much less Defensive minded group but we'd just feed Bynum and Pau more... They'd pick up the slack on Offense and our D would still be about average. Remember, Bynum helps our D a lot too...

So I think without Artest we're an elite offensive team in the NBA still and a Good team on D. We Wouldn't have the ability to shut down PP or other physical SFs but we'd still be in pretty good shape. We'd get to the playoffs and honestly, I think we'd make it to the finals...

Without Gasol, I think we'd lose in the Second round.

I think our order of top-5 importance is:
Kobe
Gasol
Bynum
LO
Artest

On some nights LO is more important than Artest, on other nights they swap places... From there its an importance crap-shoot...

SO far so good, but I bet you I can bet the over/under on how long you'll be on realgm if you keep posting garbage like this. You want to bet???

His numbers have dipped dramatically with the return of Pau Gasol who has completely overshadowed him in every category and made the gap between star and good much harder to debate for Bynum. Whilst his numbers are still solid, it would be hard to argue him more important to his team than Andrew Bogut of the bucks. Bogut is having a career year and is looking rock solid in having a legitimate chance of being an allstar. Wednesday;s matchup against the bucks will be very interesting for the two young centres. Discuss?

We just have too many good players that need touches, and Andrew is not getting as many with Pau coming back. Now Pau is whining about he needs more touches, My guess is Andrew will be next. Andrew is still a good player that needs to focus on Defense, rebounding, and blocking shots instead of his touches.
Agreed but lately it's been his effort. If he would just hustle better, his numbers wouldn't drop as badly.

another poor showing from Bynum with 11 pts and 3 rebs surely doing him no favours in making reserve all star. Im predicting season ending stats for him of 13ppg and 7.5 rebs.

For him to wind up with 13/7 he'd have to average 11/6 the rest of the season. It's just not going to happen.

Effort big fella.

I don't expect to see 20/15 everyday but if he can still go out and get 8/12 on a bad night it'll be more than satisfactory.

I am really disappointed in him. All he does is chuck. Doesn't use the pressure to his advantage, doesn't box out, doesn't rebound, doesn't defend...just chucks it away. It also only goes in when he gets a good position in the transition.

I think his knee injuries traumatized him. He's probably too scared to jump and fight for rebounds because of the fear of getting injured again.
edit**

Also, I hate how he hardly passes the ball once he catches it. He ALWAYS tries to force up shots even when a double team is present.

Nothing to do with injuries now imo. Notice him grab 15 boards when he gets 20 + points. Its the good old case of "Feed the dog to guard the yard" story that Shaq made famous.

Andrew's fine. I'd love to see him board more, but I agree.. it looks like he's traumatized in a way because of the injuries. If there is him and another Laker around and a ball is coming there way, he lets a teammate like Lamar/Gasol/Kobe/Artest have it.

He'll pick it up.. he goes through rebounding slumps though, a lot. Very unusual. He'll go back to averaging 12+ rebounds for an 8 game stretch and then do this for a week and a half.
