Gerald Green signs in Russia

I always thought he should to Europe to improve his game before trying a comeback in the NBA, not sure how Russia will work out though. Good luck kid.

Re: Gerald Green signs in Russia
Glad he went somewhere that he'll see the court, another year of sitting on a team's bench wasn't going to do him any good. Apparently he scored 29 points in 26 minutes his first game, so doesn't look like he's gotten shy with his shot.
He may not have developed as people had hoped, and he may have had the wrong attitude for some time, but for all his faults he's by all accounts a good kid who just wants to play basketball. Hopefully things work out for him overseas and his game takes a few steps forwards.

Good. He needed some seasoning, which he wasn't gonna get in the NBA. Hopefully he can fulfill some of that potential and come back to the NBA like Will Bynum did.

Good for him, but I doubt he'll ever be back in the NBA...

Kedrick Brown taught C's fans you can jump out of the gym - and be built like Lebron and still suck. And Gerald Green taught us you can win dunk contests AND have a good jumper and still suck. Its kinda of amazing how talented guys can be and not make it in the NBA. <g>

Too bad for Gerald. I remember during that disastrous 2007 season, I was laughed at for saying Thabo Sefolosha would turn out to be a better player. Gerald Green quite possibly has the lowest BB IQ I've ever seen in a player under 7 feet tall.

Good for Gerald. Maybe he'll get the playing time he needs He always seemed like a good kid, so I wish him success.
I remember the "The next T-Mac!" talk, though. I love the NBA draft.

TA says hibut they're both among the lowest I've ever seen on the C's...
Oh dear god, don't ever make that comparison. Tony Allen makes the dumb pass, sometimes dribbles the ball off of his foot, sometimes drives into traffic, etc. However, the plays he's trying to make serve some sort of purpose. It's his execution on offense that's lacking. And even if you didn't let Tony touch the ball on offense, his perimeter defense is terrific.
Gerald Green, on the other hand, would just stand in the same spot for 23 seconds, waiting for someone to pass him the ball. It was absolutely ridiculous. Some fans on here tried to pin it on Doc, saying that he had turned Gerald into a spot-up shooter a la Pat Garrity. But in the few games that I saw him in with the T-wolves, he would do the exact same thing. Terrible. I won't even get started on his D, which was equally atrocious.

^that is true, for all his idiocy, TA is a good perimeter defender...GG can't even defend his own shadow!

I think I recall some wanting to trade Pierce to develop Gerald
*disgust*
I also remember people saying Jiri Welsch was good
Thank God we got better

Where are all the posters saying Nate Robinson would be out of the League before Gerald Green?

Re: Gerald Green signs in Russia
well, god bless Gerald but RUssia??? are you kidding me? I don't see him lasting over there. It's funny but I watched Marcus Banks last night in garbage time of the heat raptors game. he scored like 9 points in a few miniutes. There are a lot of talented players in the nba but there's only a handful of them that ever become stars. Guys like Marcus banks and Gerald Green were blessed with enough talent to become very good players in the NBA but they both lacked something that prevented that from happening. Both guys were/are immature and both of them wanted to run before they could walk. take a guy like ryan gomes. no one would say he's an exceptional athlete and on paper Gerald green looks like he has it all over ryan gomes but ryan gomes worked hard and stayed with it while gerald pouted and felt sorry for himself. As for Jiri I liked him when he was here. I thought he got a bit of bum rap but in the end like these other guys he was given an opportunity and he didn't take advantage of it. Where is sebastian telfair these days? Yet another youngplayer with talent but the wrong attitude

Well except Banks signed a long lucrative Deal.

Re: Gerald Green signs in Russia
Green actually plays for a team who has a Slovenian coach. He is very defensive minded, so it will be interesting to see how GG does. I found a box score from his first game just for you GeraldGreen5...

Re: Gerald Green signs in Russia
Russia isnt bad - the women over there know how to take care of themselves. Though they are a bit carried away with the whole blond thing.
You can't really put guys who earned a second contract in the GG and KB bust status. Guys like Banks, TA, BBD are on their second contract - thus they have made it.
As for BBIQ TA is like a basketball rhode scholar in comparison to GG. GG didn't understand sets and rotations. TA just plays like a hyper aggressive style. Its like this dude I play tennis with. This guy hits the tennis ball off his forehand as hard as he can EVERY SINGLE TIME he gets to a ball. He isn't the greatest player because he misses quite a few shots - but his forehand is massive so when he gets it in watch out.. TA brings that recklessness to basketball but he does have a clue out there..

Gerald probably would have benefited from college. Hopefully he gets some much needed experience in Europe, though i doubt he ever ends up back in the NBA.
