Not that his overall point is necessarily invalid, but saying "Change is always good" when that change is losing Roy Halladay sounds really, really disingenuous.

You will be a lot less concerned with what athletes say if you just realize that 90% of them speak only in platitudes. That was simply the closest meaningless statement that Vernon could think of to what the he is supposed to say to the media.

He's basically going to do one of two things, be positive about the change or slam the organization. And considering how much he's hated in Toronto right now, I think he realizes that playing nice is obviously the best route.

Change is good, but he shouldve gone much before Halladay. In fact, I'm inclined to say that he is one of the main reasons we lost Halladay and are forced to rebuild.

I won't blame his contract, since any player would accept that kind f money. But the fact that he never put it altogether or became the leader for the team speaks to how much we missed a capable, consistent guy at the 4/5 spot.

Had Vernon not sucked, we would have been in a better position to get rid of him or at least had a record that was good enough to convince Roy we could do it.

Then again, one hitter can only do so much, and the onus was on Ricciardi to put out a good team. A contender by 2008. That (Please Use More Appropriate Word) failed miserably and has left this team out of competition, without a longterm solution in the field, at the mound, or in the dugout, or on the farm.

Ricciardi was our baseball version of Rob Babcock.

It was quite humerous how the guy had no idea what he was talking about. The actual contract on the other hand... not a laughing matter.
