Foye / Miller
Washington should be a better team with the money they are spending, but aren't. Now all of a sudden Foye and Miller are going to be free agents again. That would be the ultimate burn to Washington, get Rubio and one of these guys back. I don't believe Washington is really in the position to resign one of these guys (financially and plus they're 7-15 anyway) and I don't think either guys will give them a hometown discount. Seems like either of these guys would be a good complement to Rudy Gay. These are guys that I wouldn't overpay though (obviously). Just want to see what other teams think they're worth and if it's not much than see if could come back.

Miller would be fine at the right price. I don't see any point in getting Foye back. Unless I'm mistaken, he still isn't a point guard or a shooting guard and he still can't guard either.

Foye if he's cheap, but your right Miller would be a perfect fit especially if we get a guy like Gay. After all Miller loves to pass and can rebound. The one thing I like about Miller is, you don't have to build around him. He can join nearly every team and just contribute right away.
Another think I'm toying with is Crash. They aren't going anywhere, so why not. Their pick back, Sessions, expiring. Not trying to rip on their team and act like a Knicks ****, but they don't have any amazing young talent, they have little to spend on FA, they're a mediocre team, and their best players are just getting older.

Re: What hasn't been discussed
I like Foye, he's a good kid, but I just don't see him fitting our team. He needs to be playing next to a big guard who handles the ball a lot and can play great defense.
He'd likely be a decent triangle point guard if all he had to worry about was hitting outside shots, making an entry pass, and attacking the basket when it's there. He can't run an offense, though.

I we get Turner I would bring Foye if he comes very cheap (no more than 3 mil per year).

As much as I want to see him succeed, I don't want Foye back.

Re: What hasn't been discussed
From what I've read, WAS would like to re-sign Mike Miller, but their first priority is re-signing Haywood.
I agree that money will be a big issue. The team went over the lux for the very first time this year, and it may have been because of Abe Polin's bad health. Sadly, he dies last month, and the team is doing very poorly. They are at a crossroads. They will have to decide whether to retain their talent and hope they can put it all together, or get back to a more reasonable payroll. Big contracts like Arenas and Antawn Jamison account for $31 mil next year and would be difficult to move. Butlet is $11 more, and Haywood's probably going to get $10. Unless they are convinced they are a contender, I suspect that Mike Miller (who may the MLE or a little higher), may be a luxury they can't afford.

Re: Foye / Miller
Foye has dropped off this season in a big way. His minutes are down from 35 to 16 per game, ppg down from 16 to 6. Miller is injured, and still won't shoot the ball... I'm happy with the trade.

Re: Foye / Miller
Foye started out decent then got hurt and his role went down big time. If he came really cheap I would welcome him off the bench or even as a temporary starter at the 2. He would be great fire power off the bench and right now he would be the best outside shooter we have at 1-2 positions.

Yeah I like it, too.
Foye used to be my favorite player on the wolves. Get him back cheap and play him as SG off the bench to have some range...we need a decent 3pt shooter.

Re: Foye / Miller
I like both of those guys but Kahn seemed to not be particularly fond of Randy so I don't think a return is very likely. Miller would probably be welcomed back but he wants to be a part of a championship and will probably sign with a title contender.

How hilarious would it be to resign Foye for 2.5 million after trading him for Rubio?

Miller would probably be easiest and would come the cheapest, since hes from the area.
Slightly OT, but his cousin has been ballin' at Southwest Minnesota State University (my school, woot woot). Averaging 13 ppg, 3 rpg, 2 apg as a 6'4" PG/SG combo guard. Oh, and hes shooting 48% from the field and from 3 pt range... All as a redshirt freshman.

I picked this up from the last 3 pages of this thread on the WAS board. http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=916746&start=840. A large portion of the other posts were about how the trade was a failure. I don't think they're high on Foye and Miller could be paid more or play for a winning team. I think we have a good chance at Foye just because he might believe he can get minutes in Minnesota, but I'd only want him if we got a guy like Turner or Gay first and he comes off the bench. I think Foye should be considered a low risk - pretty good reward kind of guy. WIth Miller it will be you might have to overpay (but I would never rule out a G/F who love to pass).
no D in Hibachi wrote:Last night I watched part of the game with the Clippers broadcast team. When Foye came in the game the announcers just lit into the Wiz because they traded the fifth pick for Foye and Miller. They carried on how it sure would be nice if the Wiz still had that fifth pick because Foye hasn't done anything for the Wiz this season. The Wizards got absolutely raped in this trade. The rest of the league laughs about it and frankly I don't see how any Wizard fan can think of this as an even or good trade. At the time I thought it was a bad trade and now it looks like a colossal failure. Anyone who thinks otherwise is simply delusional.
barelyawake wrote:I really wish we could have a forward thinking plan with an eye on a championship. Foye and Miller were patches -- and not good fits from the start. Instead of forcing things to fit a role they have never been good at (for instance, expecting Java to somehow learn to be a defensive force), can we please start getting pieces that fit the position for which they are meant to play? Stop with the gimmicks and patches and build a real team -- one based on sound, fundamental passing and defense.
MJG wrote:no D in Hibachi wrote:I highly doubt either will be here next year. Miller will sign cheap with the Celtics/Spurs/Cavs or some team of that caliber. Foye will get as far away from here on a one year contract to try and boost his value.
Ditto; I don't expect either back. Miller will probably get a three-year MLE offers from a couple of title contenders, so short of us breaking the bank, he has little reason to come back. As for Foye, I honestly don't think we'll even pick up his qualifying offer (it's around $4.5 million, double with the tax). Odds are he'll sign on with some team looking to use up a bit of leftover cap space for something like 2 years, $6 million.
LyricalRico wrote:Miller will likely be able to be had for a deal averaging $6-7M, not much higher than the MLE. And Foye would probably get a deal like DeBrick, a little less than the MLE. I think Miller would be the priority, with Foye a longshot.

I still expect Foye to blow up is he ever gets put into the right situation. His confidence really has an effect on his game as well, so being on the same team as the head coach who sucked it all out of him can't be helping his performance.
