Larry Johnson out for the season

Fox Colorado - Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson is out for the season with a broken right foot.

This was confirmed by a source within the Chiefs organization with direct knowledge of the situation.

According to the Chiefs initially, Johnson had suffered a mid-foot sprain in the fourth quarter of last Sunday's 33-22 loss to the Packers. However, it was later determined that Johnson had suffered a fracture.

According to the source, Johnson is seeking a second opinion on the injury. He arrived at the Chief's practice facility on crutches Tuesday.

Ouch. That's really gotta hurt the Chiefs.[/quote]

That Michael Bennett trade doesn't look so good now if this is true....
LJ needs the break anyway but now the Chiefs uncrafty O just got a lot more uncrafty. Now the chances of the Chiefs winning the division were shot. If Herm pulls it out though, I'll take back everything negative I have ever said about him.

Did anyone here read the E-ticket with Priest Holmes a while ago?

My fantasy running backs in a 12-man league:
Adrian Peterson
Larry Johnson
Ronnie Brown
Sammie Morris

4 weeks ago I thought I was sitting pretty.

And Football Outsiders is vindicated once again with their "Carry Curse" theory.

The Chiefs still have that CFL emigree, right?

FO wasn't already vindicated by his performance this season prior to the injury?

He was only averaging 3.54 Yards a Carry with a -14.8% DVOA and -0.6 DPAR

this is horrible for the chiefs, even though the running game was not doing well to begin with it still leaves the cheifs with no weapons on offense because teams are definitely going to start double teaming gonzalez and bowe due to the lack of a running game. I like Kolby Smith though so i can't wait to see how he does, and i'm interested in seeing how Holmes performs.

I lay some of that on his holdout and some of that on the decline of the KC OL. I guess they adjust for the latter though, right?

Yup.

Still, from what I've seen, Larry Johnson doesn't look like the same player he was a year ago. That doesn't mean he can't get his career back on track, but it just means that the Curse of 375/400 is very real and it affects all running backs, top-shelf to mediocre.
