3 losses is pretty insignificant when LA's only played half the amount of road games Cleveland has.

And again, that ref absolutely saved Kobe from trailing LeBron in the MVP rankings from tomorrow morning onwards.

LMAO.

Ok, so if the Cavs lose to the Bucks, I assume you'll place Kobe firmly ahead of LBJ?

Nope.Because the Lakers would have most likely have lost if not for the refs.

Heading into tonight's game, the lakers SOS to date was rated the easiest in the league.

Classic overreaction post.

One game, one shot, does not change the fact that these guys are close and tied. Hell, LeBron had an amazing fourth quarter himself.

They're STILL tied, IMO.

If Lebron gets a 26/22 game out of one of his big man and they still lose then yes.

How about getting 26/23/7 from his stating big men versus (LA tonight) 34/25/5 and loosing at home to a below .500 team? Not that it matters, because it's stupid logic, I just wanted to be the monkey at the zoo throwing poop at the troll kid.

The Lebron fan boys are so obvious...they don't even TRY to hide their agendas...it's written into their screenames and one of them's even a mod?!

Aside from all of my legitimate arguments from today as to why Kobe is the MVP, I'll conclude with this. What Kobe is doing right now with a broken finger is WAAAAYYYYY more impressive than anything Lebron is doing with the Cavs.

OOOOOHHHHH BUT HE HAS PAU GASOL....IF LEBRON HAD BLAH BLAH BLAH.... Cry me a freakin river. Figure out how to win with Shaq in that weak ass Eastern Conference or don't bother me. But I have to admit...it's almost tied. For all the conjecture about the Cavs underachieving...they are only two game behind the Lakers, and two missed shots away from being tied with the Lakers. We'll see what happens.

Where 100 equals MVP

1. Kobe 100
2. Lebron 99
3. Melo 88
4. Nash 80
5. Dirk 25

Do you really think Nash is that much ahead of Dirk? Dirk and Nash have similar records, but Dirk has been a BEAST in the clutch and all season actually. This is probably the best season of his career. His defense also has seen vast improvements as evident by his defensive win shares and defensive rating.

I'm going by John Hollinger's.

Hollinger calculates home vs away separately from SOS, Saragin includes home vs away as part of the SOS calculation. So Saragin's rankings are more reflective of the home heavy schedule the lakers have played so far.

But if you want to use Hollinger (who ranks the lakers SOS at 15th instead of 30th), don't overlook the fact that he projects the lakers out to 58 wins once home vs away is factored in.

NO. Only Lebron fans have been posting that it is "tied". Everyone else has Kobe firmly ahead. The media has Kobe in 1st place.

This isn't one game. Kobe was already ahead. Then he had this game..It isn't going to happen for Bron Bron this season.

It really comes down to who has the best record, and we won't know who's likely to have the best record until LA has some road trips!

If the Cavs have a better record than the Lakers at seasons end, I'll gladly say Lebron is MVP

Well you have to factor in coaching/player differences. Kobe is having a great season, but its clear Lebron impacts his team more.

I have no problem with Kobe being the MVP at this moment. LeBron is pretty much coasting to the best PER and top 5 record in the league.

But Pau Gasol should be considered at top 5. 12-1 with him in the lineup. Almost 18/13/4/57%FG/90%FT with better PER than Kobe. Averaging 18 rebounds per game in last 5 games (28 offensive rebounds). Better offensive (best in the league actually) AND defensive rating than Kobe (7th in the league). Legit case for the best PF in the league.

Yea Gasol has been amazing thus far. If he keeps this up he will definitely garner some MVP votes. Kobe and him could end up splitting some votes, which will hurt Kobe's case.

I agree, about Gasol, and his rebounds per game will become massive as the season continues (maybe even overtake Howard), it is clear he has decided to focus on rebounding recently and nobody can contain him!

If Denver overtakes LA, Melo will also have a big shot at MVP. And who knows what will happen with Nash, he didn't need the best record to win it in the past, and this season the Suns weren't even supposed to make the playoffs!

Another reason Kobe should be the MVP.

A guy that can take a guy from being considered a top25 player (maybe) to being considered a top 10 player is the MVP plain and simple.

Gasol is just more effective when all the attention is placed on Kobe and when the offense is run through Kobe. Gasol's averages are near the same when he was a grizz, but it is clear he's a much improved player.

Gasol's growth, Bynum's growth, Ariza's growth (when he was in LA) are all direct reflection on Kobe's leadership.

so yeah kobe has more help, but most of his help had to be developed and integrated.

Also, most people thought the Lakers would be worse without Ariza. The way Kobe has helped integrate Ron Ron is another plus in his favor.

In fact, Gasol currently is level with Howard at 12.7rpg!
