Chalk Talk

Post#1 » by ritt0093 » Thu Dec 17, 2009 3:35 pm

So my old roomate and I are going to be going to the wolves game on Tuesday and we purchased the "Chalk Talk" tickets so that we will be able to listen and ask a couple of questions to David Khan. Does anyone on here have experience with this promo? I know they have had previous chalk talk games before. Also, if anyone has a burning question please post it, and I will do my best to try and ask about the topic if not the question word for word.

Ask him which free agent he's going to sign.

I sat in one of these sessions with David Kahn this year and with Rob Babcock last year. Good food and you get to hear some really good questions and some really bizzare ones. You'll enjoy it. Most likely you will get the chance to ask one question; Ask him more specifically about salary cap space and how much, based on current roster, draft pics, roster holds, etc. he honestly expects us to have next year - He'll give a round-a-bout answer, but it's fun to watch them squirm a bit.
We have to do the impossible, but it is possible.

Or at least who is on the short list. I'm guessing he won't say, or is not allowed to say.

Would something to the effect of "Without going into specific players, can you please describe how you anticipate deciding on which free agents to target in the offseason?" ?

To be honest I'd rather know how they pick the one to go after, rather than who they are looking at. The list of FA candidates is pretty well known, and I expect them to internally discuss all of them.

Or say...."Does this player's name sound more like Trudy Day.... Moe Monson? Touch your nose if I'm getting close."

But he will certainly inkle at who he wants. I was at his JCC meeting and he gave us a good idea who he was thinking.

Man, those types of promotions really make me wish I could go to just one Timberwolves game. Just one, thats all I'm asking for, Santa.

Ask him if he's ever read our forums at Real GM.

Good question.

Another one would be if he regrets any of the deals he's made so far

If you do make a trade this season, would it be for a player signed long term or would it be more in the lines of trading one of our role players for an expiring and a pick?

He's stated before that he thinks Al is a #2 and Love a #4 on a contending team, So based on that i'd ask him:
a) what does he think/hopes Flynn could be
b) what does he think/hopes Rubio could be
c) how many 2010 FA would he consider to be a #1?
d) are there any 1# he realistically thinks he could trade for with his current roster/assets, without giving up too much to make the team horrible (the lebron or KG scenario).

another could be what is day-to-day work consists of right now, because he's said he's not really looking to trade, so what is he actually doing right now?
