Also, and this is just my opinion, but Davis had WAY more fans than Welsch, but many people did like Jiri. I was one of them, but he couldn't cut it at PG and we didn't need him at the wing. Davis was outplaying him there, and Davis was well appreciated as that spark off the bench,

I don't agree with your theory about Davis being more popular then Jiri. I felt like one of the few Ricky Davis defenders. Just like now - not alot of people love Tony Allen. I think Boston fans like smart hustle oriented overachievers. If you play that "hoosiers" style of game your going to get more love then your actual production deserves.

Anyway I get your theory - its alll about production. I just don't see it. Tony Allen has frequently been more productive then Scalabrine. That's not hard as often his production is almost comically low. Interesting enough I think Doc is one of the best at getting the "troublemaking" guys with the more streetball game to blend with the C's system. I think Ricky Davis had some of his best years here.

Maybe we will trade for a guy like J.R. Smith down the line and we will see how the fans embrace that guy or not. My feeling is he won't be loved. (Of course maybe I am wrong about his game I don't see him play THAT much). But he seems like a Ricky Davis/Tony Allen type of baller.

I agree they have some value and do some things well (mostly BBD) but to peg these guys as on the cusp of All-Stardom is laughable...

Ok, so you admitted to being a hater and an average joe. So you like being average and a hater. Good for you. And then you have to call names because you can't handle a discussion.

No one here is saying TA is on he verge of being an all-star. Again, your mind is playing tricks on you if you think that. He isn't even close to that. But he is a good player and can help this team win.

This is a warning as there is no need for name calling. We are all routing for the same team. Please do so respectfully. Thanks Canman.
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

The thing is, TA has shown again and again that, apart from some flashes here and there, he adds little to nothing on the floor

^^^ In your mind only.

TA is a career .472 shooter who averages 7.2 PPG 3rebounds 1assist and 1 steal. He has a 11.2 PPG for a season and is on his second contract. The guy might not be all world but he is a proven bench contributor.

I don't get how he's supposed to be the savior of this bench when he plays some good perimeter D, doesn't shoot well, and makes a lot of boneheaded plays.

And don't kid yourself, jackass, you're no better than me or anyone else on here, no matter how much you think so...****...

I'm not saying I'm better than you or anyone else here. Wow. You must be really insecure. I see you are a real tough guy on the internet. Still continuing with the name calling and the Mods are ok with that I guess. That would make this a great board.

TA's been an above-average player from jump street; he's just been too injured and that's poisoned the waters for most fans as to his true worth. Check out what a pair of fresh eyes has to say about him:

From the Gary Washburn Chat at http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball ... at_wi.html

Gary Washburn:
I know I will hear it from C's fans on this one, but I really like Tony Allen. He is athletic, chases loose balls, is tough and can score. He hit a big shot last night in Memphis and I think with more games, he will really help this team. He is already getting better, but I know he has made some questionable plays in his time here. I am fresh eyes, so I am seeing more positive than negative.

When Baby gets back, Daniels returns, and Doc works Lester into the mix, we're going to have unprecedented depth coming off our bench--and TA's going to be right in the middle of that. His ability to get to the line, play defense, and make hustle plays make him a valuable option off the bench...
The leaks are real...the news is fake.

I'm just here for the memes.
