Post#1 » by Luffy » Fri Dec 18, 2009 4:07 am

Sorry, haven't posted in a while because I went back to grad school. Glad to see Lakers doing so well and hopefully Gasol locked up till 2014.

Thats probably why Kobe hasnt signed yet. He wants to make sure the Lakers lock up Pau before he commits to anything. Good to see the front office is taking care of business.

Gasol with the maximum? Damn. Now both Kobe and Gasol with 20+ mil, Odom with 8, Bynum with around 10, Artest 6, that already adds up to almost 65 mil. Hopefully Kobe would take a paycut and hopefully we could trade the dead weights (Sasha, Luke) away soon

They never said anything about the money, just the amount of years which is the maximum you can offer under the current CBA.

I don't know if Pau will get more then he's getting paid now I can see him getting paid 20 mill at the end of the extension he makes franchise player money now but he isn't a franchise player like Kobe or Lebron. It wouldn't make sense if Lebron and Pau are making the same amount of money in 2 years.

Anyone know what's Gasol like during his old memphis negotiations, and if he has a **** agent or cares too much about money? I think he definitely deserves good money, but it's best to keep costs low.

So this is the reason why Gasol has been tearing it up.

Bynum is actually more (13.7 next yr, 14.9, then team opt 16.1)

Need to save room for Marc Gasol MLE in 2011 :)

Good. Pay him what he wants. Gasol needs to retire a Laker.

That makes LO, Artest, Drew and Pau locked up for another 3-4 years. Time for Kobe to sign up now.

He is making $16.5 million this season and $17.8 million next season, though a three-year extension would net him an additional sum of up to $64.7 million, depending on NBA salary-cap figures to be determined in 2011.

Courtesy: LA Times.

Thats the most I've read in terms of money and years but 3 years 65 mil is quite some extension and looks like the Buss family are staying true to their words.

He's a top 3 PF in the league(possibly best) so he deserves to be paid like one.
