Ya know, if Washington had kept their 2009 #5 pick (bye bye Randy Foye and Mike Miller);
they could have drafted
Brandon Jennings, Ty Lawson, Johnny Flynn or Ricky Rubio.

Then, the Wiz could have actually entertained the idea of
trading Arenas.

Right now, the backup Point Guards are
Earl Boykins and Randy Foye.

I was trying to think of a better trio that gilbert could maybe slightly realistically do well with, and couldn't think of any two.

Deng has a pretty bad contract and he's a below average talent and a poor fit for the Bulls.

Okafor and Brand are worse, for sure.

Gilbert is rusty, but OTOH, he just dropped 45 and 13 last night.

Gilbert's deal is 5 more years @ 95? Wow. And the previous 2 years years cost the Wizards 30+ for Arenas to travel with the team and rehab. Based on that, his contract must be the worst in the league. I remember him giving back some of the proposed 126 for 111 to give the team added cap flexibility. That was a nice gesture. The Wiz should just blow it up by pulling a 1999 Orlando Magic and trade anyone and everyone for expiring deals and draft picks. Otherwise, the next five years might suck.

What it really comes down to is this. The Wizards suck, Gilby aint a team player, and the organization should have stayed the bullets. It just don't matter. Not saying this isn't due discussion, just that, you have to ask yourself, should we pay this guy this much in our situation? The answer is no, no you don't.

Actually , Deng's contract isnt all that bad. I think 20- 30 million of it is deferred over 20 yrs. I could be wrong but i know for sure some of the money is deferred. And Deng right know is playing up to his contract. About 19ppg, and 8reb per gam with good D. Overpaid , yes. Remember, Deng is only 24 yrs old too

I don't see his contract as hideous. he WILL get back to his old level, he's already showing signs.

Well, the highest paid player in the league is McGrady at over $23 mil, Germaine O'Neal is third at $22.9 mil, Shaq is 5'th at $20 mil, Michael Redd is 10'th at $17 mil, Kirilenko is 11'th at $17 mil, and Zero is 17'th at $16 mil. Granted those other contracts don't have the length, but at least this year I'd consider paying those contacts as being far worse than Zero.

Kind of amazing how Rashard still gets so much flak for the contract he signed, when three significantly worse deals were signed the next year (Arenas, Brand, Davis).

Those other guys don't play with Dwight Howard.

I think Arenas will earn his money the problem was thinking that the trio of him and Jamison and Butller was a recipe for success especially with the idea that Eddie Jordan was the problem. They should probably trade Arenas to PHI or CHA and get a more traditional point in DC.

he's overpaid a bit but c'mon, worst contract in the L???
i can think of LOTS of other deals worse than his. he is a guaranteed 20 ppg scorer in the supposed prime of his career.
you can say he's not a pg etc but 20 ppg scorers dont grow on trees. they're usually max players or close to it.
the problem there is not Agent Zero. it's the fact that they play Zero D. and it's not the coaches fault, it's just personnel. they're like the modern version of Run TMC and we all know how that fared.

Lets give Gilbert a year to get back from his injury, right now it does look bad though

the Wizards should have known that if NJ couldn't do it with Kidd, Carter, and Jefferson why would Arenas, Buttler, and Jamison be any better?

You can't go far in this league unless you have good players over 6'10".

I really don't get the thinking behind some of the signing and moves that happen in the league.

DeSagana Diop has a pretty awful contract.

Four years, ~$27mm.

3MPG, PPG0.0, RPG0.10, APG0.0, EFF-0.14
