Cards @ Lions

Post#1 » by ajaX82 » Wed Dec 16, 2009 4:32 am

or "who the hell cares, lets just lose and root for Cleveland, TB and ST. Louis"

Goals for the week:

No severe injuries to anyone, let alone someone decent

Cut Culpepper, Start Stanton

Not give up 300+ rushing yards

Give a **** on defense

Not too hopeful for any of them

300+ rushing yards? Are you kidding? They are gonna pass for 400+ yards on us.

I'm waiting for Schwartz/Mayhew to start cutting **** who quit on the team.

Bad News today, Kevin Smith is not only done for this season, but won't be 100% until 2011. Which means the Lions will be going after a RB. Who are some RBs in the draft we should target?

*prays for no more injuries*

C'mon Tampa Bay!!!

RBs I'd target after round 1:

Gerhart (Stanford)
Matthews (Fresno)
McKnight (USC)

late round sleeper....Joique Bell (Wayne State)

I haven't seen much of Matthews. I've seen a few Fresno games but don't really have a good grasp on him. If Gerhart is available with our 2nd, Mayhew would be a fool not to take him.

depends on what kind of defensive talent is on the board when we pick in the 2nd round....our defense needs A LOT of help.

Gerhart won't be taken 'til the 2nd or 3rd round. That's what all the latest mocks I've seen however.

Louis Delmas with a 100 yard INT return for a TD.

OMG This makes my love for Berry grow even more! A Berry / Delmas duo would prolly top the NFL if Berry turns out to be who we think he is gonna be.

Agreed - a safety duo of Delams/Berry would be the best in the NFL.

Wonder if we did draft Berry, if we'd play him at FS or CB....

Glad to see Stanton actually get some play time.

FS is the only option.

He's also a very good corner....

Sure would like to get Berry in round 1, Donovan Warren in round 2, and best available RB in round 3.

How did Morris look today? His overall stats are pretty good, but could be inflated with his long TD run...

Morris was good. The long run was him showing a great burst and following great blocks.

A Berry / Warren / Delmas combo would be freaking great to have for a secondary. If we can target a RB in FA, I wouldn't mind skipping out on an RB during the draft. I would love to try to grab Willis McGahee. He is too good to be a backup and only see goalline carries.

Berry, Warren, then OL and DL the rest of the draft. Grab a RB and DL in free agency. Kampman or Peppers would be nice to have. Then a top interior DL. IDK. Prolly won't happen tbh lol

We could actually do some strategic maneuvering and end up with both Berry and Suh.

I doubt STL and TB would trade there number 1 or 2 overall pick without getting a round 1 pick in return. And the money we'd be dishing out would be unreal.

Those teams are irrelevant if they don't plan on picking Berry in the top 2 spots which I am betting they wouldn't. I wouldn't be advising the Lions to trade for Berry if he is the #1 pick. My plan to get Berry is contingent on him falling several spots, and the more spots he falls the better. If he doesn't fall, then the plan becomes less realistic. And with the right trade, we could actually get both Berry and Suh and actually save money on our cap space for the future.

Highly doubtful we can get BOTH Berry and Suh.

The only way we do is:

1) We package a ton of picks together, likely including picks from next season's draft as well. Not going to happen, we have too many holes to fill to consider this...

2) Trade CJ for a team's 1st rounder, plus some....again, highly unlikely.

No more cap in the NFL after this year.

We won't get Suh and Berry. Impossible and an idiotic GM move. We need every pick we can get and we can't get rid of the talent we already have on this team.

Only way I'd give up picks is if we are getting an already proven player.

I would give up picks from the 3rd - 7th round and future picks for players like Willis McGahee and Carolina's Steve Smith.

I want Suh badly, but if he's gone, I hope like hell we get Berry.

Delmas is the only rookie in NFL history with a safety, interception and scores off a fumble recovery and interception.
