PRESTI PLLEEEEEAAASSSEEEE get us a Rebounding Big THIS YEAR

Post#1 » by Clangus » Mon Dec 14, 2009 2:36 am

We have shown we can compete with the very best, but we are giving up too many offensive boards and our opionents are taking 20+ more shots a game than we are. Even asolid rebounder would do wonders for us. Lets not wait Sam, give our boys a chance THIS year to make the playoffs!

I don't know who is available, but that's not my job,.....Its yours!

Clangus we have a rebounding big. The problem is he is only getting 13.9minutes a night.

How many rebounds and blocked shots are you looking for a night? You want 10 boards and 2 blks a night? How many points do you want from him? Is he like Chandler or Dalembert?

Dalembert in 26minutes give you
6.6pts
8.3rebs
1.4asts
2blks
are those the kind of numbers and presence you are looking for?

What is Tyson Chandler doing this year with 24.9min?
6.3pts
6.3rebs
0.5asts
1.3blks
That is what Tyson Chandler is bringing to the table these days.

Let's see what would happen if we gave Serge Ibaka 25minutes a night.
7pts
6.5reb
0.7asts
1.62blks

I know this isn't 100% stat geek approved but I think it is a decent barometer. If you were to give Ibaka as many minutes as Tyson Chandler he should give you similar numbers.

Personally I'd like to see him on the floor with Jeff Green and Durant at the same time to see what they can do. They should be an amazing fast break team.

But Ibaka in therory is what you are looking for Clangus. At least the numbers are, what is it you don't like about Ibaka? Only 6'10"?

Wiff, I like Ibaka as much, if not more than the next guy, but in my mind he just isn't ready. Too many mental mistakes, too many misses on easy putbacks, too many silly fouls. I hope he "gets it" in the next month or so. Also he may get that many boards when in, but the other team has an uncanny knack for getting offensive boards when he is in the game :(

I really don't know who I want, but tonight wasn't the only time when offensive rebounds cost us alot. I know that the 3pters killed us, but having if instead of the multiple shot possesions, they got just one and done, we would have really had them under the hammer.

Oh and Not Chandler - we all know he has been terrible this year.
Sammy D is pretty good but can be inconsistant, but I would take him for sure.

Is there any chance of getting Camby?

What exactly would the Clippers be looking for?

Ibaka makes too many mistakes that don't go into the box scores. Also I don't think Dalembert's numbers this season are representative of what he could do if he were starting and playing regularly.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. Strange co-incidence, but Sammy D has been ALOT better since AI's return?!

As a Raptor fan I don't see Bosh going to the Thunder but I do see him leaving Toronto.

Any chance Ibaka gets the starting nod anytime soon? the kid is a beast and i think he fits in much better with the first unit. The first unit has a ton of scorers and could use a guy to crash the boards on both ends of the court. He will also block and disrupt more shots than nenad.

He has scored in double digits last couple of games and has been staying out of foul trouble.

ibaka is a nice player for highight plays, but as a nba basketball player he's just not good enough to get more than 14 minutes a game, let alone start.

Rebounding Bigs don't come on trees my friend...they are hard to find and when you do, teams usually have to overpay because of the supply and demand factor...Lots of teams could use a rebounding big.

Look at his recent box scores, hes already getting more than 14 minutes a game. He's also getting much more playing time than Krstic. Its only a matter of time in my opinion he slides into the starting lineup

And OKC is 2:5 when he plays more than 20 minutes. I'm not saying he won't be a nice player, but he's way to raw right now. For every high light play he makes, there's 3 or 4 situations where he doesnt read a play or doesnt see what's going on.

He's the best big the Thunder have right now. Seriously.

Give him all the minutes he can handle.

Agreed. wiff, watch Ibaka very closely, especially in this Phoenix game when defending the pick and roll. It's kind of nitpicking because our whole team was garbage on the pick and roll tonight, but Serge was very frequently out of position.

I think it might actually be worth it for the Thunder to invest in an assistant that speaks French or something, if they are serious about developing Serge as one of their primary bigs.

I really thought Ibaka spoke English well. Weird.
