The thing that scares me Twirl is that with Capers I hope we don't become one of those teams over the next few years that goes 12-4 or 13-3 in the regular season and then 0-1 in the playoffs every year.
I call that pulling a ''Marty Shotinhimer'' when you go 13-3 and 0-1 in the playoffs.
The reason I'm scared about that obviously is that our D is solid and at it's best when they play agressive, but everytime we play a solid team with a solid QB (which describes most playoff teams) or get into a big game pressure situation (playoffs)we get scared and play soft.
I hate that mentality. It sucks when you have the talent and ability to win big games but play with that ''not to lose'' mentiality.
I hope it's just a case of having young team and the fact it's a ''new defense'' that we've done that this season.

While i don't like all the soft 3 man rushes that last drive, in slight defense of Capers, if these don't happen, game is over
Bell doesn't hold Holmes on a 4 yard in route, the sack by Jenkins at the Pitt 45 with 25 seconds left basically wins the game.
Jenkins doesn't whiff on the sack the play before the TD pass, game over
If Jolly isn't badly held and not called before Ben gets the winning pass off, i doubt he'd have been able to make an accurate throw
If Bell wasn't a complete moron and scrub, he'd have turned around way sooner than he did and guarded the endzone line. I still can't fathom what he was thinking.

Bedard was saying the same thing after the game. He liked the move from Tomlin's perspective.
I thought it was ridiculous, but then again I also though Jones should have gone down at the one instead of scoring.
Packers should have won this game.

I can see the perspective both ways on that. Jones takes a knee at the 1, Pittsburgh probably calls their last timeout right away with about 2:05 left. Packers probably kneel down and it goes to the two minute warning. Do the same thing on 2nd down, run the clock down to about 1:20 to 1:25 and then do the same thing and it goes to like 40 to 45 seconds.
So the Packers make the field goal to take a two point lead with around 35 seconds left. That still leaves an oppurtunity for the Steelers to get presumably 40-50 yards with no timeouts. We're still likely playing a prevent defense.
Also, there are a bunch of things that can go wrong without taking the points. Fumble the snap, fumble the hold, miss the field goal etc. So I can see why they would take the points and hope the defense holds.
Still though, I would overall agree with you that I would probably kneel down and take my chances with the clock down around 35 seconds.

Obviously hindsight is 20/20 but my very first thought was for Jones to go down right away. After that comes the debate. I think you take two knees and try to rush for the TD on 3rd and goal. If you don't get it you let the clock run down, take a TO and kick the field goal.
I'd feel better about that than giving the guy who'd carved you up all day two minutes to win the ballgame.
Overall it was terrible playcalling in the final two minutes.

We couldn't plan for that Jones catch to work out just how it did and then whether to take a knee at the one yard line. It's one thing if say it's 1st and goal at the 8 yard line and you take a timeout to tell a RB to take a knee at the one if you break through. That was a 24 yard TD on 3rd and 14.
