Lovie Not Back...Yet?

Post#1 » by DanTown8587 » Mon Dec 21, 2009 6:36 am

A HUGE quote from Angelo that signals that Lovie isn't on the firm ground Comcast said he was

"It's not about money, it's about doing what we feel we need to do to be a better football team," Angelo said.

It's nice to see this wasn't decided before hand. Either way, Cutler is doing no favors for Smith, but Cutler didn't give up 31 today.

It's not helping Lovie's cause that the team is clearly quitting on him. I hope Angelo doesn't think that when Urlacher comes back everything will magically be OK without any other changes.

If it was truly about what needs to be done to become a better football team, then there would be no doubt that Lovie and nearly his entire staff would be fired at the end of the year and we'd actually spend some money to get a good coach. Sadly though, that won't happen. Virginia McCaskey loves Lovie and he'll be back for another year, minus Ron Turner of course.

Its a nice gig if you can get it. Maybe we can get a defensive coordinator and Lovie can prowl the walkways of the McCaskey's skybox during the games.

Question.....would Lovie realize he was fired if they replaced him and no one told him....or would he wait until after the commercial break to file a grievance?

They shouldve been asking Angelo if he is gonna be back for certain. We just dont have the talent on either side of the ball where it matters IN THE TRENCHES and thats not on Lovie.... thats on Angelo.

damn, when I read this thread name I thought it was "Lovie not back from Balitmore yet" like, his ass got stuck there.

I'm very disappointed.

So, Angelo says everything will be evaluated at season's end, but that he likes the roster and think the core for the future is currently on the team.

This is Angelo trying to save his own ass. I hope to God it doesn't work.

The only hope I think Angelo has is if he never really wanted Lovie as his guy and the McCasky's forced his hand after he did get Nick Saben 5 years ago AND if he didn't want to give Lovie the extension. Then he could go into Ted Phillips office with an "I told you so" attitude and actually get more power. Jay Cutler's transformation into Rex Grossman on steroids would be the only other proof he'd need that he can bring the talent in here but Lovie's staff can't get them anywhere near their potential. There would be a handful of other players that have left he could point to.

However, if he EVER said Lovie is his guy behind closed doors. Then he should be gone.

There are more problems than just "who decided to bring Lovie on". I mean, he did take us to a Super Bowl. Problem is, he sucks now.
