Why not trade for Sam Dalembert and Jason Smith of the 76ers? Just give them a ist round pick in 2010 and matching salaries of players.

Oh yeah, because matching 13 million in salaries is very easy to do. Oh and if the Sixers wanted us to take Dally's contract, they'd have to give us a 1st round pick, or two.

Anyway, my ultimate dream would be to get a guy like Jeff Foster from the Pacers. Might have been possible if we still had Hunter and our pick, but I doubt it now. Balk/AC/Allen might be enough to match his contract, but the Pacers would have little incentive to do that. The only real reason would be to make sure they don't pay luxury tax next year. As of now their payroll is projected at 64 million, which is probably going to be close to where the luxury tax will be. This trade would save them a little over 4 million, which would likely put them well below it. Very unlikely.

Quite a dollar/pound ratio! DEN is already over the lux, and I assume doesn't want 2010 salary. The $711,517 Cheikh Samb TPE expires in two weeks.

I doubt the Nuggets are looking to acquire another end of the bench big, that has nothing to contribute this year. No need to spend the money.


If anything I expect them to trade some combo of Carter, Graham, Allen, Petro, and Balkman for a 2 or 3 year contract on a 4th type big that is not a total waste of space.

If we can keep the core 8 players that we got playing (when everyone's healthy), I'm all for making a trade that can help us out. Balkman/Petro/Graham/AC/Allen/Draft Picks/TPE can all go if we want to get a solid big man that can rebound and play some solid interior D. I'm still hoping that we can pull off a trade to get Troy Murphy and keep our core together.

J.R ain't leaving folks. Sorry to disappoint some of you but he stays. He has been on and off here and there but finally he is headed towards right direction & it is close that J.R we are waiting is to take form. Guys have a some patience on this one.

Seriously, if you can make the right deal and get 2 for 1 or 3 for 1... with Nene or JR... and it helps the team...don't you have to consider the deal? I mean..I love what JR can do...I love what Nene can do... but if you can get 2 guys that will fit better with Melo, Chauncey, K-mart, Lawson, etc... you aren't going to get much for Graham, AA, Petro, etc... and this team must get better... they have to win when a starter is down... one thing they did do last year.... I would prefer not to move JR or Nene...but they don't have many chips to play with anymore.....

Exactly. We were looking for that SG for so long, and then a PG, and now a backup C. Doesn't make sense to just plug one leak at a time.

Pretty good deal if GK will let go of his lover boy. Not sure if this is possible but would be better to have Foster & gamble on the ball handler squad.

^We have to look for struggling teams, teams who are supposed to do well but for whatever reason struggle like Bulls...

But I can't see Bulls as our trading partner... we really do want Joakim Noah and his board work... but no way they're giving him up... even if we offer J.R. and they're looking for scoring boost. You keep big men who can rebound. I don't even see them trading him for Nene.

- Brad Miller who is garbage/ does not offer what Nene/ KMart/ Bird already do
- Tyrus Thomas who with a change of scenery can rejuvenate himself and his career, but downside is he is just as injury prone as Nene and even more inconsistent than J.R.


We just need to keep looking. Unlike many people, I am not for Jeff Foster... he is a "longer" version of Najera. Effort and dirty work can only get you so far... we need a legit big man who is strong and that one immovable object when backed down by the likes of Bynum and Gasol...

Possibilities:
- Haywood (nice)
- Dampier (he's inconsistent and salary is ugly)
- Chuck Hayes (he's short, but he's possibly the best defender in the NBA noone talks about, you touch him, he flops and it's an automatic offensive foul, he's a genius)
- Carl Landry (I don't think he's untouchable... he finishes very strong around the rim and can defend a little bit, although not nearly as well as Hayes)
- Luis Scola (he can score some and rebound some, unfortunately against Bynum and Gasol, we need more than "some"... yeah he averages nearly 10 rpg but I doubt in a 7 game series against Lakers he can do that)
- Troy Murphy (near the bottom of my list, he rebounds, he shoots threes to draw big men out, but my real problem is he doesn't defend well)
- Marc Gasol (pretty much untouchable)
- Thabeet (intriguing, I doubt Memphis will give him up so soon and I doubt Karl would have faith in him)
- Camby (no way, another Birdman to cut Bird's minutes?)
- Kaman (would be nice, but salary is ugly)
- Warrick (NICE but Bucks are not giving him up easily)
- Bogut (big temptation, but can be injury prone and salary is ugly)
- Kevin Love (no way Minny giving him up so early)
- David Lee (rebounding machine, pretty good salary, and can knock down some mid range shots, would be nice to see him corral those rebounds usually Gasol and Bynum rape us in)
- Brandon Bass (thick, muscular, bruiser, but can he rebound at consistent rate or is he a Nene lite?)
- Gortat (I'm coolin on him)
- Frye (sissy who does nothing but shoots threes, do not want)
- Shaq (are we so desperate we come to this)
- Stoudemire (yes we are desperate)
- Hawes (nice but he is one of few bigs Kings have, why would they give him up)
- Jason Thompson (see Hawes)


I nominate J.R. Smith and Renaldo Balkman for Chuck Hayes and Shane Battier. Chuck Hayes does big man work in the paint better than most legit 7 footers.

yea that's what i was referring to..struggling teams...we probably couldn't trade with any team over 10 wins thus far...

i know Brad Miller is struggling right now..but i think he's a big body we could use - IF we could get him without giving up too much in return i'd be all for it...Noah is a no brainer, would love him here but i don't think we have enough to give also.

Haywood would work..but who do they want that we have?

Warrick & Frye .. i called for both of them preseason...i wish we'd picked up either..they're both lanky but offer threats given the opportunity.

i like your Hayes/Battier trade...changes our attitude alot...doubt Hou does it though...

is Hibbert not worth mentioning? they probably wouldn't give him up.

IMO we need a LEGIT 7 footer that can hold his own for 40 minutes to get anywhere near WCF again...gonna be hard to find with our trade pieces

Trading JR for a big man is not going to help the team, you are literally cleaning up a hole for your reserve bigs by getting rid of your best SG. Not a solution for a team that has trouble scoring the ball, when one of 3 players are not on the court. Go back and watch the offense those first 7 games, and come back and tell me it is a good idea to have Graham or Carter picking up 15-20 minutes of the SG minutes JR leaves behind, and also explain to me how that makes us a contender.


The good news that I see is the maynor deal helps us set the market, if the team is willing to take on some money through the TPEs they have (which current rumors are that they will) then they should expect a solid young prospect who has shown something on the court with a cap filler, or a solid young prospect with a smaller bad contract.

Types of deal I could see
Wizards trade Stevenson and McGee or Blatch for Allen and a TPE.

Something like that would work well, and may be just what the Nuggets are looking for.

Blatche and Stevenson might just work (chemistry wise)...but Karl would probably keep DeShawn on the bench, which i don't think would work..he could become hostile..dude needs to play...if we could get him and have him become a defensive first type player in the vein of Artest that would be perfect...

we still NEED at least 7 feet of game on the paint though

Stevenson is not really getting many minutes in Washington, but at the end of the day he is the bad contract you would have to take to get one of the bigs from Washington, and even then I am not sure they do it.
