It was just like the stare down........

Post#1 » by Kefa461 » Mon Dec 21, 2009 1:09 pm

.....last year with Doc.......

Wallace said he will not alter his game to try to prevent being called for technical fouls. In fact, he was not happy with how close referee Bill Kennedy stood near the Celtics bench during timeouts. Wallace was ejected during a timeout in the second quarter.

"If they're standing right near our huddle trying to stick their ear or nose in there, then yeah, they're going to hear some stuff," he said. "That's exactly what it was. When have you ever seen somebody - a ref - standing over there that close to our bench during a timeout? You already know what it is. I ain't tripping."

Sheed is probably right in his point but at the end of the day we need him in games to help us. Nothing is ever fair but you still have to manage to function. I'm ok with Sheed being Sheed but it is going to result in him missing a few games. What I dont want is Sheed making himself a martyr. Ever sense the 60 minutes interview, I think he realizes that he can be the poster boy for ref bias. I don't want him trying to prove his point and costing us games in the process.

I don't think Sheed Ts will be in issue once Big Baby comes back. If Sheed was to miss a game and we have Baby back on the team It wouldn't hurt us as much. That being said Sheed has to be more carefull. He should know what he has a target on his back.

I'm not too worried about this. I'd rather Sheed play with the passion and emotion that has made him a good player over the years.

This kennedy guy is building a reputation this year. Was he reffing the sixers game too?

Kennedy is a douche but honestly I'm sick of Sheed playing the victim - take responsibility. You're 35 years old.

Yep, the instant replay showed Sheed calling him a fa***t a** something. His pride was hurt you could tell. In the next couple of plays he called a looseball foul on Perk for boxing out properly.

Wallace added that he wasn't angry with himself for getting ejected.

"Nah, not really. To answer your question honestly, I wasn't. I still play my game. I ain't changing my game for nobody."

I can't tell you how much this bothers me. If his pride costs us a game, or many games which it already did against Philly, then so be it. It just smacks against everything that the Big Three sacrificed for - sacrificing individual pride for the good of the team. As much as we like to say no one would come aboard from the outside and mess with winning games because they would have to deal with KG, that appears not to be true.
There is no doubt referees like Kennedy should be investigated for going out of their way to impact games with bogus calls and technicals. We all get it. But a supposedly high IQ player like Wallace should recognize that maybe if he changed his way, for the good of the team, the bogus calls would curtail. It's kind of like a baseball pitcher who isn't getting the outside of the plate by a particular umpire. The good players adapt and are effective. Even the worst ones don't stand on the mound and yell at the umpire until they are ejected. Really - somebody help me, but is there anything even close in ANY sport to any team having or allowing a player with such disregard to his team?
