MLB budgets? NY? Bos? Phil? LA?

Post#1 » by trellaine201 » Tue Dec 22, 2009 6:28 pm

I have to laugh at every story I read in which either the Yankees or Bosox etc are looking at a player but claim they don't have the budget lol.

When you get to $200 milliion dollars is that really a budget? lol

These big market teams don't have a budget, come on now. Who are they kidding. They sign whoever they want.

MLB sucks and need a hard cap!!

actually the yanks have a 220 million dollar "budget" with the acquisition of Vazquez..but boston dosen't run a huge cap though the sox are at 120 million and philly is just over 110 and angels are at 118 or so.. for all we know rogers is CAPABLE of a 120 million dollar payroll....a cap would make it easier for low market teams to succeed though

The Red Sox were at $120m last year. They have already committed $135m thus far, and that's to only 16 players. They'll be over $150m when all is said and done.

idk they did shed a lot of salaray from last year Lowell's 13 million and wagner's 10.5 million and alex gonzalez 5+ million they added scutaro's 6 mil a year and 10 million with lackey that's about as much a followed, i don't see a drastic increase in thier payroll.

They still have Lowell on the books...the trade fell through. They were also planning on paying the bulk of his salary, anyway.

Here's their salary commitments, courtesy of Cot's:
