Rockets 2nd team better than Starters

Post#1 » by Guy986 » Wed Dec 23, 2009 3:57 am

Lowry
Birdinger
Tmac
Landry
Andersen

are better than Brooks/Ariza/Battier/Scola/Hayes.

Is this the only team in history to have a better reserve team than their starting 5?

Ill take Brooks, Ariza and Hayes defense over Lowry, Budinger and Andersen

Landry might be better overall compared to Scola but I still like Scola's intangibles.

Starters set the tone for Defense then they hand it off to the 2nd team and then they push the tempo on offense.. It could be pretty confusing for other teams.. I like knowing even if the Starters are struggling we know there is going to be a boost immediately off the bench.. Now flip that.. just wouldn't work..

Rather than looking at it as one vs. the other, I see it as "by god! we have a freaking complete team!!!"

^^ word is bond w/ dat **** , i remmember the days of having clearance weatherspoon off the bench, those days were angry days. now the days are much more calm and peaceful, cept yao and tmac of corse, but still, better days and will only get better. but really the starters would lock down the reserves. shane battier and chuck hayes, add in steals specialist ariza, and imo scola plays better man defense than landry. w/ the bench starting, the starters would have to come off the bench and make up for the 20 pt deficit

I think Carl Landry is my new favorite player :)

Not just yet IMO - Landry is the only consistent one.

Young Star11,
While Landry may be the only consistant one, usually one-or two-of Lowry,Budinger and Andersen will have a good game. So while the individual players may be inconsistant, the unit as a whole is giving consistantly solid production.

Was pleasantly suprised to see Taylor get some solid rotation minutes. adelman sure looks to have a solid plan for developing young players. Once they grasp the offense and defense,he gives them some 4-5 minute shifts of game experience, then if they are producing another shift or two and by the end of the season they are valuable contributors.
I really liked the court vision Taylor exhibited. be nice to have somebody who can drive and dish. If-and I admit it's a huge if-if he can continue to develope, imagine him penetrating, drawing help defenders and having Budinger,Andersen outside and Landry inside to pass to.

Yes. They're better sparks off the bench. Starters, no.

I agree with the consensus of everyone's opinion which is: this is young, damn exciting team to watch. I knew this team would work hard and the young fellas would have plenty of PT to develop, but throw in wins and this is really, really unbelievable!! This is really a reflection of why we brought in Adelman. I remember when people were dissing him when we weren't winning when he first got here and some people, including myself, were saying it's b/c we had ball hogs (tmac and Artest) that didn't buy into his system and were just playing one on five bball. A balanced team is way better than having superstars b/c if the superstar gets hurt (Wade a year or so ago, Agent Zero) the team becomes extremely terrible to watch.

I don't believe in the "superstar" theory to win b/c if you look at championship teams there's more than one or two superstars that's the "reason" to the wins.
