Minnesota Trades: Ryan Gomes, Mark Blount
Utah Trades: Ronnie Brewer, Kyle Korver, CJ Miles
Why for Utah: Its obvious that they are trying to save money, both now and for next year. I truly wonder if they will be able to keep Brewer this offseason, so they try to get something for him. This deal also eliminates Miles' contract for them in 2010.
Why for Minnesota: Brewer would fit perfectly into Minnesota's uptempo system, running alongside Flynn (and in the future, Rubio). He would instantly become their best wing player. Korver gives the team something they desperately need, perimeter shooting. He is also a midwest guy from Iowa. Miles is also a decent shooter and slasher. Most importantly, this deal would cause major headaches for shrink, as he could not keep Corey and Ronnie separated on the wing.
Note: This package as-is might not be enough to interest Utah. The other two assets I thought about including were the rights to Pekovic or returning Utah's pick (though I'm not sure if that one's possible). But would Minnesota do it with either of them involved?

I'm not sure about Utah doing it, they save $$ but they seem to like Miles, and Korver just got back from injury so they may wait to see how they do. Brewer just doesn't do much for me, he's a good defender and athlete, not great and he's a pretty medicore shooter it seems, something we're full of.

Utah needs more incentive.

Maybe I shouldn't encourage this, but we can add a lot more incentive than Blount, and pretty cheaply:
Minnesota Trades: Ryan Gomes, Damian Wilkin, Sasha Pavlovic, Nathan Jawai
Utah Trades: Ronnie Brewer, Kyle Korver, CJ Miles
Wilkins would provide a lot more production than Blount, particularly since the trade hits UTA for swingmen. Best of all, this deal now removes $2 mil in 2009 payroll, for $4 mil in total savings with the lux. This also gets UTA to within $2.4 mil, which is in the realm of many teams' TPE's. If they can shed $2.4 to climb under the lux, the savings would be another $9 mil.
