Sooooo........league is starting to rumble....whispers....
What are the rules that govern when u can;
Trade Player
Sign a free agent/ bought out player
Sign a player to a 10 day contract
and....do contending teams often sign guys to 10 day contracts? I imagine not...
Any one able to brain me up on the above?
Thanks in advance.

Some where is Howard Coons (SP? NAME?) review of the CBA. It contains everything you need to know.
Off the top of my head. You can always sign free agents. All you need is money and a roster spot.
Likewise, you can always buy out a player, it just make more sense to do it towards the end of the contract and exploring all trade options. As soon as a player is bought out he is a free agent and can sign where he wishes (except with the team that recently traded him assuming he was traded prior to the buy out).
Players signed over the summer can be traded 12/15.
I'm not sure about 10 day contracts it seems to be sometime in March since that is when it is done and I do seem to remember some where hearing/reading "now teams can sign players to ten day contracts" so it seems there is a date.

As far as 10 day contracts Jan 10 is when all contracts become guaranteed after that date 10 day contracts can start.
