So where does Rambis stand on Love & Al?

On one hand I think likes both guys, but he continues to dwell on how they are undersized and that both are power forwards. So what does he see in future for both of them?

Well, its true, they are both PFs....but look at most of the NBA now. Most teams run with two PFs. Few teams have high-caliber true centers anymore.

I think he's sending a Zen/Phil-like message through the media to them.

"I love both of you guys, and we have the chance of being successful with you two, but ONLY if you do things the right way, MY way."

I think he's pretty much saying listen up or pack up.

Maybe this message is meant for Kahn, it's not like Love will grow some long arms or Al becomes a 7-footer.

Why would he say he likes using them together, then, if his goal is to get someone else in? I think he's emphasizing development with his comments. Developing good fundamental habits.

Well. Love can rival Timmy D in fundamentals, Al is a bit off in this department but he's decent. Rambis is talking about blocking out but both guys are good at boxing out especially Love.

If Love had Duncun's height, long ass arms and same level of athelitism, he would one damn good player, that's what I meant.

I think he's just saying he like them and they can play together despite their height. They just have to play the right way. He also didn't mention that a huge reason why they can paly together is because when Al is normal, he can score on just about anybody, even guys who are 7'2". If he got completly shut down by bigger players, this wouldn't work.

I really do miss the true centers of the NBA though. Those guys have totally fallen off, there may be like 3-5 great true centers in the NBA any given year now. On top of that its now a gaurds game. The big man gets no respect anymore!

Alot of the remaining fans have become infatuated with the "high flyer" prospects, and want the dunks, 3-pointers and any prime-time material they can get their hands on ... the NBA has allowed the sports media to sell this monster, while many of the fundamental (long-term) players have taken a back seat in the process.

How may teams are willing to take 3-5 years to develop a center anymore? Owners need to sell tickets and are better off trading for a big man down the road. Most of todays fans will buy a ticket to see a 20 point highlight reel full of fast-break dunks over an above a fundamental 20 & 10 center.

Lastly, we cannot forget the fact there are some phenonenal players that are younger, taller, faster, and more athletic than ever ...

Not many teams left with a legit true center.

LAL, POR?, HOU?, MEM, LAC
ORL, BOS, MIL, NJ

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
