ZBo has played well this season for the Grizzlies. All the arguements we've heard on the radio and on the streets suggest he deserves a shot at the All Star Ballot and perhaps the All Star Game itself. Do the posters here feel the same way?
For me I feel he deserves a shot. We all know ZBo has been capable of playing well as a player. As a main X-Factor, this has been the best he has played in his career and been a big influence on improving the team overall. Without Zbo as a Grizz, they would be missing a quality player of his calibur who can score well along with rebounding the ball at a great rate.

He's definitely been playing like an All Star.
For him to make the team though, the Grizzlies will need to have a good record. I think it'll come down to him and Boozer for a spot on the team.

I think he deserves mention, but the Grizz record will have to improve for him to have a realistic shot IMO given that Western Forward is probably the most stacked position; but he could easily make it as an injury replacement should that situation arise.

Re: ZBo the All Star?
If players like david west made it last year i dont know why Zbo wouldnt deserve it. In fact, if he is finally not going, we would find someone on that list that would not deserve it as much as zach.
At the C spot marc has his chances as well, he got to improve a bit as well. Hope one of those grizzs become an allstar in Dallas.

Z-Bo's numbers are nothing new, he played like this when he was in Portland and didn't even get considered. I think most of it had to do with the Blazers record back then. I agree with the posters, the Grizzlies would need a better record.

I dunno why he shoudn´t be an all-star. He´s playing really well and right now is a golden boy

I'm glad you guys are liking him. Other than the Portland fans, I never understood why the guy was hated so much. He's an obvious ballhog, but there are plenty of guys in the league with that mentality. So I never really got why he was one of the few that was really criticized for it.
I hope you folks can sneak into the playoffs and get your first win in the post season, and perhaps even more.

I don't think ZBo is a ball hog this year at all! A lot of his field goal attempts are on offensive board / putbacks, and he's actually working with the offense (or just getting out of the way if necessary), and he's looking awesome this year as a complete offensive force. His team defense is still spotty but his rebounding is stellar.
So far this year, ZBo has an effective field goal percentage (balanced for the 3-point basket) of 50.8% on 15.7 FG Attempts a game. Kevin Durant has a eFG of 48.9% on 20.3 attempts a game. Wade has an eFG of 45.5% on 21.2 attempts a game.
Durant and Wade have attempted twice the free throws of ZBo due to drawing contact by diving at the rim. I think it's safe to say that Wade is a bit of a ball hog but for the most part passes when necessary or for an easier play (too bad the Heat have few other options so it's usually Wade shooting). Thunder fans would never declare KD as a ball hog since he's the second coming of Larry Bird. But compared to the other two Zach is putting up better shots and with more a lower number of attempts per game (not adjusting for the pace of the game played).
ZBo had an eFG of 47.2% on 18.9 attempts per game in the 2006/2007 season with Portland. So by measure he's become a much better player and Blazer fans can only wish they had this new-and-improved Zbo.

Re: ZBo the All Star?
ZBO might get snubbed this year but it is hard to place him above other forwards out west: Duncan, Dirk, Melo, Durant, STAT. He can't take any of their spots. But probably is equal to STAT. He's definitely playing as good as Pau Gasol the one year he was Allstar. But that was more of a reward for 3 years of the same high level play. If ZBO plays like this for the entire season and the first half of next season - obviously he'd make the ALLSTAR game next year. He's still just coming out of the funk of the last seasons on the toilet teams of New York and LA. They have to change the perception of the league of Grizzlies again. I hope it happens. It was well documented that ZBO was snubbed from Allstar game his last season in Portland.

Re: ZBo the All Star?
I posted in the general discussions board that when I look at a player like Allan Iverson being second in voting in the East it makes me realize the allstar game is more about the "marquee" names rather than who is having the better season. You have to kind of earn your stripes and Zach will probably have to carry his past baggage his whole career and even though he's far past that stage he will be saddled with it, fair or not. Unfortunately there are so many uneducated fans who look at the negative side of things and can't get past the fact an incident that happened years ago doesn't define who the player is today.
But those of us who have watched him closely know that there isn't a single power forward in the league who is playing better than him right now. Players like Duncan, Dirk, etc. are playing as well but not better.

Re: ZBo the All Star?
Okay, it looks like Dirk and Melo are starting at the forward spots this season.
If the coaches put Pau or Duncan at reserve center (Amare looks to be taking the starting spot), then it'll be Pau or Duncan taking the other reserve forward spot along with Durant.
ZBo has a chance to make it as one of the miscellaneous spots to round out the seven reserve spots.
Or he can hope for injury to earn a spot lol.
