no calderon worsens LA's PG defense

LA is simply not interested in calderon. period.

Have you seen Calderon in 06-07 coming of the bench. He does well against 2nd units. His defense is actually decent against bench players. And your defensive system can help cover his below average defense against starters a bit. And anyways your giving up nothing. There is no way you get HInrich.

have you been watching the lakers?

the problem is with fisher, on the starting unit.

the problem is with the bench, theyve consistently given up 15-20 pt leads.

calderon is only going to make things so so so so much worse than it currently is

also, what the hell does 2-3 yr old form have anything to do with his current form? which is crap

You completely missed my point. Calderon flourishes off of the bench. When he was coming off the bench he was a decent defender and his stats were legit. That's because he was playing against 2nd units. His great play off the bench convinced Colangelo that he is a legit starter and then he gave him a huge contract. All Calderon has shown is that he can't play up to his potential against proven NBA starters and is better suited off of the bench. You guys definitely need an upgrade at the backup PG position and Calderon is definitely your man.

Two problems:

1. Can he be at least servicable DEFENSIVELY against the Aaron Brookses of the world?

and

2. He's a large financial COMMITMENT (4 yrs, 9 per).

Other than that, he's PERFECT:

A. He's a good, tall, steady, intangible QUARTERBACK/facilitator.

B. Possesses a GREAT outside shot and field goal percentage.

and

C. Might actually make Gasol, Bynum, Artest, and Odom better with his passing abilities.

Would you trade for Ramon Sessions?

Post#8 » by vinnycorleone » Sun Dec 27, 2009 10:59 am

Would you trade Farmar/Ammo and someone else (depending on what the T-Wovles would ask for in return) for Sessions/Ryan Hollins/Ryan Gomes?

I think I might because I like Sessions but I might be overrating him. Thus I ask you guys. Do you pull that trade if we don't pull out of our funk?

Fine with me. He's a great shooter, which we are needing. We lack of a knock down shooter. He's an average passer too.

I like Sessions but there is got to be a reason why a rookie is starting over him and he's not a very good 3pt shooter and he just signed a new contract in the summer which i think is at least for 3yrs I don't know if the Lakers want a another long contract unless its Hinrich or someone like that.

It's a small contract 3 years 3 mill a year.

The reason why it works is because Minn gets Expirings to keep their payroll short plus they get Farmar who knows the Triangle and can teach it to the current T-Wolves players. And they get rid of all of their long contracts 3 years for Sessions, 3 Years for Ryan Gomes

We get a back up PG in Sessions and Ryan Gomes is a hustle guy at the SF (he can take over if Luke is still injured). Hollins is just a filler.

C'mon Kurt Rambis...do us a solid?

Jose would make your bench way, way, way better. A good bench is important to compete with teams like Boston and Orlando. Calderon and Gasol are also good friends. If you really have a problem with the defense trade Derek Fisher straight up for Rafer Alston. Rafer will solve some of your defensive woes. Imagine a tandem of Alston/Calderon.

If the Lakers get a PG threw a trade there not going to get a a back up PG there going to get Fishers replacement in the starting lineup. The question Laker fans should ask about Sessions is that is he ready to be a starter on a championship contending team.

I wonder if making a trade right now makes sense. Farmar is not all that bad. Do the Lakers want his and Alamo contract so they can drop some money at the end of the year. They are going to have to cut money some day. The bench can not be made up of low price players, that will not win anything now or later.

Good questions. Just not sure we have the answers yet.

11 points a game and 6.2 assist a game. Not sure they would want to trade that for the end of our bench.

If we do a 3 for 1 trade. Where do we find 2 other players that will help the team. Good size, well 6'3 and 210. I guess that is good size. Just not sure what Phil calls good size.

I would do it. Going to have to find a replacememt one day for D. Fish and Farmar, what will he ask for in money.

I want T-Mac to get to play with the one player he mostly wants to play with in the league in Kobe, but I don't want us to take on his 23 million salary.

Maybe have the Rockets buy him out and sign him (I know it's improbable, but he'd solve so many of our problems with our bench)?

if the Rockets really want to get rid of him they may have to buy him out because even if TMac is a 23 mil expiring, who wants to trade and pay that much for him (it will decimate your current team and up your luxuary tax).

unless he is traded for utter garbage. like Sasha, Ammo, Walton, and Farmar then I don't see a trade happening for the Rockets.

it would serve them better to buy him out or just wait it out till next year and just use him spareringly and then let him go for nothing.
