in-game twitter by Kevin Ding

Post#1 » by snaquille oatmeal » Mon Dec 28, 2009 5:02 am

there are some really interesting observations made by Kevin Ding of the Sac game. I hope it creates some discussion. (I like Phils comment on the triple tower effect that everybody here was dieing to see, but nobody noticed when it actually happened)

* One reason Odom is starting: He's logical matchup for Sac 6-11 SF Donte Greene, who has eluded Odom early, however, and has game-high 7 pts

* Sasha complaining to the refs about what Tyreke Evans is doing to him by initiating contact to create space.

* Sasha so mad that Ime Udoka scored on him on post-up that he just spit at the sideline running back for offense. Seriously.

* Color scheme on Nike Zoom Kobe V he's wearing tonight sorta makes 'em look like Crocs

* Gasol just scored on elbow jumper, but when Odom made that entry pass instead of reversing the ball to Kobe's side, Phil Jax yelled: "No!"

* Kobe directly chastising Pau on bench for what he hasn't been doing on defense. Pau discusses it but eventually nods.

* Fish was just doing straight-legged standing-up sit-ups just now as timeout was ending. Never seen that before.

* New Kobe shoe has big scoop of color (gold tonight) on heel, creating Croc-like effect RT @Andi122: Anyone kno what colors they are?

* Thx. Great close-in seats here at Arco. Loved covering 2002 Western Conf finals here. RT @dyen: @KevinDing love the courtside tweets.

* Odom just thought Lakers had six guys on court. Then he counted.

* Kings fan yells: "Give the ball to Morrison" after his ugly miss. But Adam creates and draws foul this time.

* Phil Jax lobbying ref that if Sac trainer is on the floor, Kings should be charged timeout. Kings fan: "C'mon, Phil! We've all got problems"

* This time Kobe is lecturing Sasha during timeout. Sasha nodding in understanding.

* Odom asked courtside writers if he went over Tyreke Evans' back. Elliott Teaford nodded; Odom smiled and said, "Get the F outta here." ...

* ... Referee Gary Zielinski saw the exchange and smiled and said: "Thank you!"

* Pau making Phil laugh in their pre-second-half huddle. Lakers don't seem too worried about trailing.

* Kings are good at pulling their bigs out of paint on offense, which negates Lakers' shot-blocking. Bynum especially hates it.

* Tune in now, everybody. Kobe and Tyreke Evans going head-to-head the way we didn't get to see on Xmas w/LeBron and Kobe.

* Kobe was alternately shaking and holding his right hand after losing ball on last drive. Talked briefly with trainer Gary Vitti in timeout.

* Pau to ref Derrick Stafford about Jason Thompson: "He's pushing me the whole effing game."

* Kobe hurt right elbow on previous play but jacked up 3 anyway on last possession of quarter, missing badly.

* @dexterfishmore Shoulda used (effing)

* Gary Vitti wrapping icepack around Kobe's right elbow now

* Kobe heading to locker room with what Lakers are calling strained right elbow

* Totally! RT @THE_REAL_SHAQ: The brockness monster of the sacramento kings reminds me of mark mad dog madsen lol

* Kobe's back from locker room, looking fierce in the face.

* Kobe showing trainer Gary Vitti that he is capable of making his usual shooting motion, but he's still holding it and flexing right hand.

* Remember how Artest said how Kobe doesn't like people to ask him about injuries? No teammate has said a word to Kobe.

* Kobe back in with Lakers down 3 and 8:33 to play. He scored 16 of his 30 points in the 3rd qu before getting hurt.

* Pau gets it in post, converts and yells: "C'mon!" to himself afterward. It was only Gasol's 8th shot tonight (he has made 7 of 'em).

* Kobe has thown last two passes with left hand. Vitti just asked him something about it. The answer was: "No way!" I can guess the question.

* Kobe yelling at Pau that he should've taken the shot on the last possession instead of giving it up to Fisher.

* Shannon Brown, who has been huge in the 4th, has cut on left side of forehead. Getting treatment now in timeout.

* Kobe does Dikembe finger shake at Kings bench for trying to go at him with Tyreke on last possession of regulation

* Kings coach Paul Westphal just smiled big at Kobe, who stared him down again as overtime was starting.

* RT @LakersReporter: Udrih capped a 13-0 run with a pull-up J to put SAC up 7 in OT. Zero points for L.A. since the 3:35 mark of the 4th.

* Kobe to Pau after Pau's tip-in of Fish miss after Kobe miss, setting up 2nd overtime: "Way to go."

* Can't be good that Kobe's right arm isn't working so well, but he and trainer Gary Vitti are laughing now. This is fun stuff for Kobe.

* Fan just made it down to behind Lakers bench and while security was holding fan back, Kobe slapped him five (with left hand).

* It's back to the big lineup with Bynum-Gasol-Odom to start 2nd OT after it fizzled to start the game.

* Pau should really try to dunk the ball sometimes when he's in so close.

* Odom to courtside reporters: "I think we'd be better off with no refs and just letting us call it."

* After Kobe's second 3-pointer of 2nd OT, he stares with pride at Lakers bench. Trainer Gary Vitti has big grin.

* In timeout after his big shot, Kobe is lecturing to Pau about what he could've done better on previous play when Pau didn't score.

* Kobe to self after coming up just short on another 3-pointer that was on line: "Ooh. Son of a b----!"

* Phil said Kobe started to get feeling back in right arm in 2nd OT. Elbow not a concern for Mon in Phx.

* Phil on triple towers Bynum-Gasol-Odom together: "Clumsy ... I was not impressed."

* Kobe said still can't really feel elbow. Said he couldn't bend it much and shot final shots differently by not cocking them.

Sweet post, i watched the game but with no sound at a restaurant. This was a great summary.

Lol @ Lamar
Kobe always talking to teammates during timeouts, and they're listening

btw, the defensive stop against evans was a thing of beauty.
Thank you, Phil.

Good stuff. I used to read Lazenby's blog on LA times for these kinds of inside stuff. Kevin Ding's twitter is a great source for up to date Lakers information.

Did Phil laugh or Pau was corny that time?

Nice. Sports reporting is one of the only thing I like Twitter for.

Really? I don't think bullet-ed statements can get much more "to the point"...
Thank you, Phil.
