Stop the madness

Post#1 » by kingdom_lurker » Mon Dec 28, 2009 6:47 am

Ok folks as my name suggests I lurk around this board rarely posting. I admit my basketball I.Q. Is not as high as some on these boards (maybe higher than some but...). What I am really not understanding is why are we talking so much about trading Martin. Its been said so so many times that Martin is not the superstar but has potential to be a great second banana. I am actually glad he got hurt cause it forced Evans to be the #1 option. And he has done it beyond all expectations. Before he went out the new coach was working with his new team and using them in line ups that are no longer being used.
Give Martin a chance to see how great he and Evans along with such a under appreciated young core can do before we all freak out and demand the team to be blown up again. I am really enjoying this team and betting Martin is going to enhance this team better than all the trades iv seen out there.
Please stop the madness!
We just took the world champs to double OT without our second best player even though they were missing their 3rd or 4th best player.

Personally, I think that while Evans is making us an exciting team to watch again, and making us compete and hang around in games like these, I think we need BOTH Evans and Martin in we wanna actually start winning these type of games with some real consistency. It's the same as in the early decade when Jason Williams put us on the map and made us an exciting team for the first time ever, BUT it wasn't until we got Bibby that we actually started SERIOUSLY competing. Right now, we're that same young team that pushes people to the limit, but JUST can't close the deal at the end. Both Evan and Martin, I think, make us a LEGITIMATE playoff team. The odds of us actually making it this year remains to be seen, but I think we make them FOR SURE next year if both are healthy all year.

Evans/Udrih/Rodriguez
Martin/Garcia/Green/Udoka
Casspi/Garcia/Green/Nocioni
Thompson/Brockman/Green(maybe)
Hawes/Thompson

Look at all the options we have available! How many other teams would KILL to be this loaded?
I always used to think that having too much talent was supposed to be a GOOD thing. It means you don't have to rely on just one or two people scoring 40 every night. I guess it must not be anymore, because everybody seems to like breaking things up...

Not to many of us are implying that we trade him for the sake of trading him !
That said he is not untouchable
IMO there are only 2 truly untouchable type players in the whole leauge right now thos names are KOBE & LEBRON
Most anybody including Kmart can be had if you give up enough
That said again to get Kmart it would take alot for any team to get him !

An Evans/Martin back court could be a coaches worst nightmare. Who does the coach assign to guard these guys? does evans get the PG? Or is the opposing teams pg too small for evans and they are forced to put a bigger body on him? how many times have we already seen that! not if but when this happens Martins game will explode with a shorter/smaller defender on him. we've all seen it guys he will shoot right over the top of the smaller guard or drive for an and one. Before Martin went down teams game plan when playing against the Kings was stop Martin, so what all of a sudden now martin isnt a threat anymore? IMO Coach Westphal has proven that he is great at managing the game to how the opposing team is playing. martin is a great piece to add. lay off the trade threads.... or atleast for now. all this speculating is a waste of time. let the players play, then talk

What is a message board without talking and speculating? People aren't going to just shut up for months without discussing something.

Overall I think most Kings fans really like Martin and are on board with waiting to see what he can do next to Evans. Offensively Evans and Martin are a very good match on paper, we just need to see it on the court. No one is really talking about trading him for the heck of it, they are bouncing ideas around about how they think the team could be made even better. Since Martin has the best value around the league of the guys we might be willing to trade, he is naturally going to be included in some trades people kick around....nothing wrong with that.

I'm going to lock this. There are plenty of threads devoted to trading/not trading Martin already.
