Where to now for Bynum

Bynum is something like 21-22. How can he be at the top of his game. He should be in college right now playing for a NCAA title. Give him space and time. He will be a good one some day.

Actually Bynum would have graduated in the Spring of '09 had he went to college.

Bynum, Walton, and Farmar for Noah, Salmons, and Hinrich.

I would do that in a heartbeat -- although I think the Bulls laugh at such an offer. Noah is a guy that seems to understand his role, which is to defend and play hard-nosed defense every single possession. That is exactly what this team needs. Noah isn't going to be worrying about how many touches he gets or whether or not he's going to be an all-star. I would trade him for Bynum straight up, to be perfectly honest with you. We need guys that can be counted on night-in and night-out, not players that are going to make excuses about being sick and worrying about their popularity.

I wonder if something like Bynum + Farmar + Morrison (expiring) for Noah + Hinrich would spark any interest.

Edit: I wish I could retract my All-Star vote for Bynum.

If Hinrich wasn't having such an atrocious year, I'd do that in a heartbeat. Maybe he's improved -- I haven't looked at his numbers lately -- but the last time I checked he was among the absolute worst shooters in the league. Perhaps he'd get back on track with a bigger role, but a player of his caliber shouldn't be playing as badly as he has been.

Otherwise, I've been a huge fan of Noah's all year, even dating back to college. When Andrew's playing well I really like what he brings to the table. But I absolutely can't stand the lack of effort and instincts at times. And I can't figure that out, because he's obviously put a tremendous amount of effort into developing his body and his game.

But the fact remains -- when he's not scoring, he rarely makes a major impact. Noah is the complete opposite, and I have tremendous respect for that. I probably wouldn't go for a straight-up trade, but man...Andrew really does try the patience sometimes, doesn't he?

We could land Salmons, Hinrich, and Noah for Bynum, Walton, and Farmar easily. The Bulls could dump Kirk's contract AND put Andrew Bynum next to D. Rose. They'd be all over that. Imagine the FA's out there that would want to go to that team. Rose and Bynum together would look pretty good for someone like Wade...

Our second unit could make the playoffs. Bynum does have injury concerns and at times it seems like he doesn't care. You see a LOT more fire out of him when Gasol isn't there. I think Andrew cares about personal attention more than anything, and that kinda scares me. Noah on the other hand is a team-first type of dude and a HELL of a defensive talent. Grabs boards, defends the P&R great, contests shots... I like the guy. Not to mention Salmons and Hinrich are both incredible triangle fits. Defensively we would be an absolute nightmare.

We did win the Finals last year against the best big man in the game with Bynum doing NOTHING for us. It's not like he's 100% crucial to our success, even though I think with him we are a great, great team.

I don't want to ship Andrew out at all. I want to see him exerting more effort and playing a complete, consistent game. Those numbers are misleading as he hasn't played anywhere close to that level since Gasol got back. Otherwise he's at about 12 and 6 for the month of December. I want to cut him some slack, but it just always seems to be some sort of excuse -- injuries, illness, adjustment, youth, ad infinitum. Dude's not a kid anymore, and he's making some major bank. Time to step it up.

Yeah, the excuses are getting old. Last year these same questions popped up regarding his effort on the defensive end and I'm getting tired of it. He's making a ton of money now and he needs to get his head in the game and start playing his role. If not then I'd be all for shipping him out for someone that will, although that'll never happen since Jim won't allow it.

we were all questioning his effort and desire and all that jazz...

what happened? january rolled around and he began beasting again... gasol's return had a lot to do with his funk, but he's going to adjust, find his spots, get early offense by sprinting down court and his confidence will do a u-turn

If I was the GM of the Lakers I would hire The Dream to take over for Kareem as Bynums tutor and have Bynum work with a fitness trainer to bulk up a little but try to maintain his quickness because imo He looks way less athletic and active in the paint than he did 2 years ago when he showed the Laker nation why he deserves all the support he get's.
