Forming our team to fit JOB Syle?

Post#1 » by greenway84 » Wed Dec 23, 2009 8:06 pm

Over the past few weeks I keep hearing trade scenarios, signings in 2011 and drafting players to fit JOB style of play. I don't understand this. I think most all Pacer fans including myself agrees that JOB is just here for the remaining crap years and we start fresh in 2011.

I think the team you see at the end of training camp in the summer of 2011 is going to be the core group you see going forward. I strongly believe that JOB is not a part of those plans. Maybe FO spot, but thats it.

I think we have to think quality, and talent of players more than type of player. The only type that I think fits any coach that we will get is Defense. after that I think any style of Offense is fair play.

We can all speculate who we think will be a part of that 2011 nucleus, My personal picks are Danny, Hibbert, Hansbrough, Dahntay, Watson, Rush, and Dunleavy. Now notice I didn't say they were untouchable. I just think when the dust settles those players will still be here. Watson and Dunleavy if the price is right which I think will be at the time.

As far as drafting players go. I would think we take the best player we can get. We all want Wall obviously, but Stern would never let that happen. Theres no other PG at this time that is going to be high enough for us to pick up. Prediction only.

2011 free agents. I already mentioned I think Watson and Dunleavy will be back. Speculation to other free agent signings that we could have a shot at: Horford, T Chandler, Perkins, Stuckey, Brooks, Landry, M Gasol. Now Im not saying I want any of these guys including Watson or Dunleavy. Im just giving my prediction.

I'm done ranting, just bored and thought id give my 2 cents.

I keep hearing that Bird loves Obie. If that's true, then Bird might construct the team around his style...which I don't agree with.

I'd like a defensive minded coach. Offense can always come, but you need to focus on the defensive end to win games.

If we can somehow land an awesome talent who doesn't fit Obie's style, then let Obie go!

Meh, I'll just wait and see what happens

Bird doesn't want to keep Obie. Bird was a coach himself, and a damn good one. He was one of the guys, if not THE GUY who said, "a coach is only good for 3 years. After that, his players tune him out".

So, with that said, he's looking for us to stay the course to 2011 and then I'm sure that our influx of new players during that summer will see us get another coach.

This is just another reason to be excited for 2011. Brand new roster AND coach(?) I'm giddy already.

You are right he did say that,Id like to see him bring in Mark Jackson in to coach and Patrick Ewing to be an asst. and mainly work with Hibbert.

The Pacers should focus on talent and character, not whether a guy can shoot threes.
