Let's Get Mike Miller NOW !!!

Post#1 » by Jammer » Tue Dec 29, 2009 6:28 am

Real GM Trade ID # 5348332. Trade MUST HAPPEN BY JANUARY 9th !!

Wizards send Mike Miller to Boston and

Celtics send Brian Scalabrine, Tony Allen and JR Giddens to Washington,
which is $2,838,284 million less of full season salary,
which means their luxury tax decreases by $2,838,284 Million,
and the Wizards save about $1.95 Million in salary remaining,
for a total savings of $4.75 Million. Again, this deal saves Washington $4.75 Million by July 1.

Note: NBA players get 16 paychecks,
on the First and Fifteenth of every month,
from November thru June.

Celtics send Sheldon Williams to Portland for Portland's 2010 2nd Round Pick

Wizards waive Dominic McGuire, their 2007 #47 pick whose contract
does not become guaranteed until January 10,

and Wizards also waive JR Giddens.

Healthy, the only team I am worried about is LA, and Miller does nothing for us there, IMO.

We don't need more guys standing still on offense waiting for the 3.

1. Miller shoots the 3 better than Eddie House, has his whole life.

2. Miller is a complete player, including a point forward, heck, Miller can run the
point as good as House, at least on offense.

3. Tony does NOT force the defense to spread,
Scal doesn't do anything but stand behind the 3 point line.

4. Mike Miller is 3 times better than James Posey

5. Celtics may not be able to re-sign Sheldon Williams, who will probably be
useless against the lengthy Lakers, anyway. Getting a 2nd Round Pick
from needy Portland at least is something.

6. Miller is the best guy to go against the Lakers of all the players in this deal.

Why do the Wizards do this? Its pretty much giving up on their big offseason move before they even have a chance to test it out, its like giving up there #5 pick for RF4

As usual, a trade posted on the C's board is heavily in our favor..
The only time we'll get something decent for our expirings is at the deadline, not "NOW !!!"

And are we really in the position to be shipping out Sheldon for scraps?

Sure, whatever you say.

Just like that Powe guy, right?.....

6. Miller is the best guy to go against the Lakers of all the players in this deal.

He may be, but in crunch time he's going to be on the bench, because the only positions he can play we have hof'ers at, who figure to get 40mpg come the playoffs.

Since Miller won't re-sign they settle for saving $4.75 Million,
it's more than they'll save in a buyout.

There is no reason to wait until the trade deadline.

Miller is as good as gone next year,
there won't be a sign and trade.

It will likely be to a contender for a full MLE contract with 8% raises,
but there will be half a dozen teams with cap room that
one might get skipped over by the free agents.

Miller, though, likely signs a 4 or 5 year Full MLE deal with 8% raises.

Miller is career 0.402% from 3 point land (10 seasons)
Eddie is career 0.359% from 3 point land (9 seasons)

Miller is Significantly better than Eddie, and Eddie is freakin' awesome.

I don't get the second trade. Shelden has played pretty well. We need to have some size just incase anything happens as far as injuries go.

Washington just says no. Maybe if you add another 3 Mill in cash and some picks...

The Sheldon Williams to Portland for a 2nd Round Pick was there
because the Celtics had to send out more salary
to allow the trade under the CBA. That won't happen now because:

1. Big Baby is out with a sprained ankle; don't know how long, sounds serious

2. Portland just signed Shavlik Randolph as a backup Big (remember,
Greg Oden and Joel Pryzbilla are out for the season)

Here's why you won't get $3 million cash or any picks from anyone.

1. The decision maker on this deal is the person who owns the team. No one else actually
would give a hoot about a $4.75 Million savings, not you, not fans, not Ernie Grunfield,
no one except the actual owner (I know about Abe Pollin).

2. If Miller is not re-signing (he's not), Miller will go to the team of his choice
this summer. Now, the practicality of that means that any team that trades for him NOW
expects to be the team that Miller will re-sign with; otherwise, why give up assets?

3. So, Miller actually gets to pick where he goes;
not the Wiz, not Ernie Grunfield, not you or me.

4. Miller will likely get the Full MLE with 8% raises, on a playoff team, for 4 or 5 years.
(Note: Mike Miller will be 30 in January).

5. Given that situation, it's only a matter of the Wiz accepting that Miller will not be returning
(they'd have to overpay him to have any chance), and by the Wiz I mean the owner, who then
directs his flunkie (you, if you like to think so, but actually Ernie Grunfield) to dump Miller
for luxury tax savings. But to dump Miller, they have to send Miller to a team that Miller
wants to go to, because no team would give up assets if Miller didn't have a pretty strong
inclination to re-sign there this summer. The Celtics would be on that short list of teams
where Mike Miller would sign.

I had Miller on my fantasy team last year and he was useless, much like he would be for this team. No thanks.

There is no way the Wizards would waive Dominic McGuire, esp for this deal.

Return to Boston Celtics
