Injuries happen throughout the season as we are seeing first hand. KG was starting to show that he was on the path to full recovery for a couple games but after that fall in Orlando it might be a tougher path back to that. The Davis injury last night really hurts...Pierce, Daniels, and Davis are all very important pieces going into the playoffs. I just hope they are all ready and healthy in April. Im still waiting for Wallace to show something other then jacking up 3's, he was brought in for reasurance for our bench....well we could use that now.

ryaningf hit the nail on the head. KG's season has had different themes

first few weeks: shin splints because he was overcompensating for the knee...first we had seen of him since last year so it was stressful because it was possible that KG was never going to be the old KG...Ainge was confident in the knee enough to let him play, so you had to assume it wasn't in terrible shape...you think of that dunk he missed on that fast break that must've been the first of KG's career

middle: KG up to about 90-95% of the old KG......finishing alleyoops, drilling jumpers, fadeaway working again, hitting gamewinner against the Knicks, having those 10-11 type games with 8 or 9 rebounds, and not to mention we won about every game of this stretch

thigh bruise: he didn't look all that great vs. Orlando and then had that huge fall and looks worse than he was at the beginning of the season. shots aren't going down and he couldn't make Radman or Anthony Randolph pay in the post.

I think he is all right because it isn't really the knee that is giving him the main issues. As long as he is nice and rested for the playoffs we are ok and if he tweaks something, we are likely screwed.

And as to the PP vs. KG debate...it's unnecessary. We need Ubuntu on this board. LOL. There is no 1A vs 1B, etc. debate because there is no need. KG is the Leader of the team in the huddles and Paul tends to take charge between the lines and in crunch time. It's actually a perfect fit of symmetry between all of the starters.

So I

For one, I have NEVER said a negative word about KG or proposed ANY trade for Ray.
Secondly, I agree that Paul, KG (when and if he returns to the KG of our banner year), Ray (when and if he returns to "dagger", lights out shooter Ray consistently), and RR (getting more and more All Star-like every game in spite of his FT and jumper flaws) perfectly blend and make us a very real contender.

I am simply pointing out 2 things:
I am concerned that KG and Ray will never again be what they were before, and will play more supportive roles as Paul (who has ALWAYS been the most well rounded player, best clutch player and best scorer on the team) and the amazing Rondo (even with his flaws) lead us to Number 18. I hope that I am WRONG - and that KG gets back to being KG for one last deep deep playoff run, and Ray shows us he does have another great year left in his tank.
SamIam 2010: Truth's ability to play so incredibly efficiently is so UNDERAPPRECIATED. Bballcool 2012: Amazing how great Pierce has been for so long. Continues to defy age! KG 2013: P is original Celtic. Wherever he goes, we go. This is The Truth's house.

The real elephant in the room is that we're in trouble without either of our three most important players (and yes I'm including Rondo over Ray here) completely healthy.

Then again, who isn't.

Game time decision for tonight. I think it's in his best interest to sit out and rest so he can get back on the court semi-healthy.

I think Sheed is the bigger elephant in the room. We are a third into the season and he looks more out of shape than in the beginning. What a piece of work he is.

I agree, but this room is getting crowded with all these elephants.

While it is good to be cautious with KG, this is starting to stretch out a bit.

It is too bad the Celtics disassembled so much about KG last year.....it takes a toll on their creditability this time around.

...KG's still 10 days, maybe, I don't know," said Rivers. "I have no idea, I honestly don't. There is some history with hyperextended knees that we kind of know that it takes at least two weeks, sometimes three. We know it won't be longer than that, but we don't know how quickly. There's a history there -- not with [Garnett] -- but with league history."

Rivers continued to stress that Garnett's injury should not be a long-term issue....
